Goulburn's Gordon Hotel This week's pub lunch saw me down in Goulburn for a presentation to a local school. After a quick poll of some of pub loving mates & a Google search I short-listed The Gordon Hotel The Gordon emerged as a sanctuary of taste, where the essence of a homely feast awaited. For a mere $15, I treated myself to a lunch special that truly hit the spot—a 200g Rump steak so tender and juicy, sided with impeccable chips and smothered in a mushroom gravy that's the stuff of legends. It’s these simple delights that remind us of life’s greatest joys. Regrettably, the journey back to Sydney meant passing on a chilled beer to crown the feast—a small regret, but the perfect excuse for a future visit. The Promise Peeking at the back, I spied the makings of a new beer garden, an exciting whisper of what’s to come. #pubs #pubgame #foodie #travelnsw

A bit off of the beaten track in Goulburn, but worth the bother. This is a true traditional fare pub. We stopped in for a Sunday lunch on our way back home. Firstly the service and staff are amazingly polite and engaging. They take their lead from Trish the Publican. A very nice person who simply didn’t take a break the whole time we were there. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine as well as the chicken burger and the bangers and mash. My partner stated that the chicken burger was so nice that it ranked amongst the best she had eaten. My bangers and mash were proper lamb and rosemary snags with real mashed potatoes and homemade gravy. All in all a 5/5 experience for us…we will definitely return! Seeya soon, Trish and staff!

Gordon looks like an old style base level neighbourhood pub. It is. But it is littered with gambling throughout. We went for Saturday lunch. $15 special was nachos, fair for a$15 special. Ordered a lemon lime bitters, it wasn't made, just poured from a bottle. No tea or coffee.

DO NOT STAY HERE! PROs • The room was small but clean. • There was a mobile column heater to take the chill off the air. • A towel and soap were provided. • Tea and coffee making facility.

CONs • Despite booking a double room, we got a twin share. I complained and was told no doubles were available. We should have been told this when booking. • No face washer was provided. • The towels were faded and a bit scratchy. • Amenities were scant. For about 20 rooms, there were only 2 male and 2 female toilets downstairs and 1 male and 1 female ensuite-type bathroom upstairs. • No power point in the bathroom. • No mirror in bedroom. • Bathroom windows had a gap high up through which the wind blew making it extremely cold for a morning shower. • Room had a map showing the fire escape routes, but there was no assembly area designated. • Fire alarm went off late afternoon, only to be turned off a couple of minutes later. • The fire alarm went off again at 3 am and was turned off after about 5 minutes. • The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. • The TV only got the primary free-to-air stations, e.g. it received the ABC but not ABC2, ABC3 or ABC News 24.

We arrived early so we could get ready for an on-site event we were attending that evening. Lacking a power point in the bathroom and no mirror in the bedroom, I was forced to use a compact mirror to blow dry and style my hair and put on my makeup. By morning, with the combination of an uncomfortable bed and broken sleep due to the fire alarm we could not leave...

We made a spur of the moment decision to stay in Goulburn and came across the Gordon Hotel.||Asked for a double room - and after paying was given a twin room. We decided to stay as it was late after a long day of driving. Big mistake! ||We weren’t expecting anything fancy- but the room||Was a joke. Small fridge on the floor , with door propped open with a dirty cloth, one lamp that blew the moment we turned it on. Tv also didn’t work! Absolutely filthy window and screen and mismatched linen that looked like it had been there since the 80’s. ||Share Bathroom upstairs also looked like no maintenance had been done for years. Shower rail coming away from the wall and the dirtiest window sill you have ever seen. Yuck!! I could hardly wait till morning to get out of the place! ||||As there are few reviews of the accomodation I can only speculate not many people stay here. Yes it is fairly cheap, but don’t be tempted! ||On a more positive note , the staff in the hotel and particularly the bistro were very friendly.||Meal in the bistro was nice. Decent size and reasonably priced. ||By all means stay for a drink and a meal- but don’t be...
