I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from the Birkdale McDonald's, and I feel compelled to express my frustration. I placed an order through the MyMaccas app for a post-Christmas meal, hoping to avoid cooking. The estimated delivery time passed, and my order arrived a full 40 minutes late. During this delay, multiple DoorDash drivers were assigned to pick up the order but were kept waiting, only for a new driver to be reassigned every few minutes due to the restaurant's inefficiency.
While I initially gave the benefit of the doubt, acknowledging that it was the holiday season and the restaurant may have been busy, my experience only worsened when the food arrived. Food was incorrect - completely different to what had been ordered, and what did arrive was ice-cold. I understand that delays can happen, especially during peak times, and as someone with experience in the food service industry, I typically am understanding. However, this was the last straw.
I have consistently encountered issues at this location: long wait times, items missing or incorrect, and a general lack of care in fulfilling orders. On nearly every visit to this McDonald's, I have been asked to park and wait for my food, even when I only order a small item like an aioli snack wrap. Furthermore, they are frequently out of stock on basic items, and the quality of service has been consistently subpar.
After reading multiple similar complaints from other customers, it is evident that this store has a pattern of poor service. One would think that with such negative feedback, management would make an effort to improve operations, yet nothing seems to change.
On a positive note, I did contact McDonald’s customer service, and the representative was helpful in processing a refund. However, this isolated gesture does little to make up for the repeated disappointments I have experienced. Until Birkdale McDonald’s addresses these ongoing issues, I will not be returning, and I would strongly advise others to consider their options before visiting this location.
If McDonald’s is serious about maintaining its reputation and retaining loyal customers, the management at Birkdale needs to take immediate and substantial action. Acknowledging the problem is only the first step; actual improvement is required to regain customer trust. As it stands, this location has consistently failed to deliver a basic standard of service, and I will be looking elsewhere for future takeaway meals. It’s truly disappointing that a brand with such a widespread reputation for service and quality is unable to provide even the most basic level of satisfaction at this...

Processed all but said that payment was declined. I then went to the front counter and was told that the order didn’t go through and I needed to pay again. After 10 mins I asked where the food was because 2 of the items were left on the front counter… I was the told that this was the order before mine ( the one that didn’t go through) it was the supplied again ( drinks wrong twice and missing squid game ) complained, drinks resupplied and food was cold. Checked bank account a couple of days later and saw the double charge. Complained to McDonald’s and this was their response.
“We are sorry to hear you have discovered an issue with your recent payment at one of our restaurants.
If you have noticed a double Eftpos transaction on your statement, we have been advised that in this case the customer should be directed to contact their financial institution to lodge a dispute for the charge.
Unfortunately, we cannot investigate double charges through Eftpos machines in the store, as we are unable to determine the cause of this issue and where the fault may be.
We apologise for the frustration this causes, however, we must implement these processes to ensure the correct investigations take place and any necessary actions are taken”
At least 2 other people complained to me when I was waiting for my food also. Just a bad store.
All in all pathetic and...
Read moreIn the years that McDonald's have had a restaurant at Birkdale, today was the first time I've actually been in there .. to take our 4yo grandson for a Chicken nuggets and chips happy meal.
The experience was underwhelming.
Our grandson has a severe dairy allergy, so we need to be careful what we order, but we know that nuggets and chips are safe.
We ordered at the machine. Nuggets, chips, apple juice (not available so we had to settle for orange juice in a cup), ketchup and the book (not the happy meal toy).
The machine was broken so we didn't get a ticket with our order number. The order was called and we discovered that we'd been given the toy, not the book. On enquiring, we were told that the book is also unavailable ... so we settled for a game instead.
We then found that we also hadn't been given the ketchup, so another trip back to the counter to try and get someone's attention.
Meal eaten and home again to play the game. Unfortunately the barcode on the game (required to actually play the game) results in a message that the game is no longer available ... so it is a non-game.
I'm not feeling particularly happy after purchasing a happy meal.
Maybe it should be renamed...
