Im so disappointed that you’ve taken this route. The use of the word bullying is offensive to those who’ve actually been bullied. It would be odd for a competitor to target portion sizes so that’s an unusual approach. The only reason I responded to you the first time was because it was completely passive aggressive in an attacking manner not a genuinely helpful response. You essentially mocked me among other things. Had your edited response been the one you initially posted I actually would have truly appreciated that and thought “maybe it was an off day, because the plate of food they’re describing isn’t what I received so likely the same issue with my husbands” and I very likely would’ve deleted or amended this rating. More than once passive aggressive wording has been amended. as stated previously wish you the best of luck we’re at a bit of a crossroads so let’s move on
Second edit added 01/10 I note you’ve since reworded and removed sentences in your initial response to my review. This is genuinely encouraging to see as your initial response felt passive aggressive and saught to invalidate our experience. The management and response to customer reviews are equally if not more important than the complaint itself, something to consider in future when you read reviews which don’t meet your expectations.
I need to reiterate your prices are not the issue, (they are standard) the portions were not. This applies to both meals my husband and I received and we ordered different items. For context We order the same meals from a different cafe every Sunday.
Further you’ve since stated that a bacon and eggs costs more than $20. I’m not sure if you meant you’re running your business at a loss or you meant how hard your staff work, but to reassure you I’m not discounting they are hard workers. We could see how busy they were. Given your reaction and response to my concern before you edited it, I’m quite glad I did not provide feedback in person. Wish you the best of luck in future.
Edited to respond to business as I’m unable to add further comments: Both my husband and I had very small servings, nothing was missing off our plate, we ordered different items (I never mentioned eggs Benedict). I also never complained about price, in future I’d encourage you to truly read the review prior to responding. I specified portion size for price paid. I’m well aware you’re on par with prices in new farm, Greenslopes anywhere in Brisbane really, yet I’ve never left hungry, nor have I ever needed to order extras or a “big” breakfast to have a standard serving size. If this was the norm I’d never have left a review to start with. Yes you’re a small hardworking family business, yet that doesn’t exempt you from constructive criticism. all your customers work just as hard for their money spent in your cafe as you do providing the service.
Original review below: If you eat more than a 4 year old don’t come here. There must be huge overheads, because for $20 I received 2 poached eggs, 2 full teaspoons of hollandaise (yes I measured it out because I was shocked at how little I had) 1 rasher of bacon and 1 piece of gluten free toast which would cost a total of no more than $5.
We are not new to gourmet food having lived in new farm until now, but I wish I took a picture before my 4 year old started as it wasn’t a regular sized plate, rather a small sized salad plate. Having never been here before and getting my meal first - I assumed that’s how the meal was meant to look until my partners Omnivore Breakfast came & his scrambled eggs looked the same as mine… The kitchen would have known as they sent someone to the table who asked if everyone got their meals, a family member at our table stated yes and they asked if my meal was an omelette, I said ‘I guess so?’ As again, we had not been here before and didn’t know how the meal was meant to look. The staff quickly walked away with a smile on their face back to the kitchen. The staff member would have known what an omelette looked like from their employer better than I would? If it was a known fact that my omelette was meant to be an omelette & I received the wrong dish - then the staff should come out a bit more apologetic and addressed the issue. Instead it felt a bit like because I hadn’t brought it up then it wasn’t an issue at all. The service in other aspects was phenomenal but there seems to be a lack in addressing their own mistakes. As a first time customer, I’m not to know how your meals appear especially when your scrambled eggs come in a small omelette shape and wasn’t going to simply complain that my mushrooms weren’t on the plate, especially while with company I hadn’t seen in a good year.
