Last time I was on Minjerribah, this joint was named Chillers. A lot has changed in five years - so I decided to pay another visit. Service was swift and cordially polite. The breakfast burger was assembled nicely, and my coffee met expectations. On the expensive side relative to other local food outlets and grade of ingredients, the breakfast burger was just shy of $25 on its own. Perhaps some waffle fries or a side salad would add to the value proposition. That said, conveniently located and open 7 days a week that not a lot of places offer on the island.

It's an incredible place, the atmosphere is great, the attention is incredible, the coffee is one of the best I've ever tasted, the banana cake is delicious, the breakfasts are delicious. Price quality in the perfect balance. Nellie took care of us and she was very kind and understanding. I'm sure we'll be back, I highly recommend it.

This is the perfect place to stop for a coffee and muffin before the beach or to get a dine in breakfast or lunch. Nellie made our large group feel super welcome and happily moved tables around to accommodate us. Super friendly staff and amazing food to accompany it. Can’t wait to come back here next time!

I feel like we’ve been discriminated upon (maybe not too fancy enough for their taste or because we’re Asian) having to wait more than 40minutes for a sourdough avocado and egg and bacon muffin. I would understand that it was busy but to have l other people who order later than us have received their order first and with the same order!! I don’t usually leave reviews but with the awful service delivered to us I feel the need to write it. The lady when I follow up my order was even rude saying it’s coming but have to wait fo more than 10minutes after. Unacceptable service on a place with high rating. If you want to feel awful, hungry and discriminated go to this restaurant. Very bad.

PS. Having to be gaslighted by the owner about how we feel during our time there is awful and just proves my point especially when the owner is not there during the experience. Maybe shame on you? Yes, I know you have a multicultural staff there but it doesn’t excuse the discrimination that had happened. It is not uncalled for when it happens to us and pretty sure it happens no matter how diverse the staff culture and our experience is a proof of that. How would you justify being served last when you order way before others and with the same order? How would you feel when you’re the only people there with colour? 40 minutes of being overlooked is no joke as we waited there patiently seeing how other were served before us so quickly? Don’t invalidate what a customer has gone through just because you can’t accept the reality of it happening. We were never even rude to your staff. Us sharing this experience and being attacked by the owner, simply overlooking it and blaming the customer only shows lack of ownership of a bad experience they had instead of resolving the issue nor finding a way for it not to happen again....

We came here off recommendation alone & won’t ever eat here again after the service we experienced today. We arrived, no one greeted us, yes, a very busy morning but first impressions are everything. Smiled at the barista, she smiled at me, I smiled back & looked away, looked back at her and then rolled her eyes at me. We then ordered a Haloumi Burger (or so we thought), amongst other things. All food came out at different times. People’s food that ordered after us, got theirs first. My husband who ordered the haloumi burger, received a breakfast wrap, I advised them kindly that we didn’t order this. They took it away. They then came back 10-15mins later with the same breakfast wrap but now had a hash brown? We again, told them, we didn’t order this, the waiter then rolled his eyes at me and said ā€œthat’s not what the docket saysā€. He then huffed and puffed and got another staff member to then come over AND ASK FOR MORE MONEY to make up the difference between the haloumi burger & the wrap..? AS IF. I then told them I wanted a refund on the haloumi burger as everyone had now eaten, we had young kids that had had enough by then. My husband left hungry, because they couldn’t take ownership of their mistake and asked for more money for something that was their stuffup - I couldn’t believe it. The apology in the end with the refund for the burger (or wrap according to them) was half assed and I will never be back. I’m usually never one to complain, but you cannot be charging nearly $70 for breakfast for 2, stuff it up twice bc your staff cannot actively listen, ask for your customer to pay the difference, and expect returning customers. So incredibly...

It was a very rainy day in early January on Straddie and it seemed every person on the Island was looking for a cafe to have breakfast including our party of 7. We ordered takeaway coffees while we scouted for a table. A few empty tables sat without chairs so we awkwardly stood around the table while we looked for chairs. Other groups were doing the same. Staff were too busy to assist. As other groups left, we eventually collected enough chairs to sit down and approached the counter to order. We were told there was an hour wait on a la carte menu items and that it would be quicker to order from the display cabinet (sausage rolls, croissants etc.) so we ordered some sausage rolls as well as our mains to eat while we waited. We watched the chaos of service for 45 minutes before our sausage rolls turned up which we shared before the rest of the food arrived 15 minutes later. The food was ok but very average for the high price and left a lot to be desired regarding presentation. The coffee was not nice at all. Service was minimal. The path to the toilets was lined with boxes of dry goods, eggs and frozen chips that had been delivered at some point. We were happy to give our chairs to some waiting patrons and leave soon after we ate. In summary, this cafe clearly does not do well under pressure and I’d be much happier to pay the high tourist area prices if the products and services were...
