TL;DR: Overcooked food, potentially old oil, and an unfortunate stomach experience. Wouldn’t recommend.
I'm relieving my bowels as I write this…
First Visit: Small Chips & Gravy, Potato Scallop, Crumbed Sausage The smallest chips available were still a generous serving, but the quality was lacking. While well-seasoned, some were clearly overcooked. The crumbed sausage was unimpressive, though the potato scallop was passable.
When I ordered chips, I was asked if I wanted sauce and was offered gravy. I said yes, only to find out at checkout that it cost an extra $3—something that wasn’t mentioned until I questioned the unexpectedly high total.
Adding to the disappointment, my takeaway fork started splintering partway through my meal (a first for me). I hate wasting food, but the chips were so bad—and there were so many—I couldn't bring myself to finish them.
Second Visit: Bacon, Egg & Hashbrown Wrap + Chai Latte Yes, I went back. Why? A mix of misplaced optimism and the lack of nearby competition when my friend wanted breakfast.
The chai latte was alright. The bacon was decent, the egg was mediocre, and the hashbrown was a crime—overcooked in what tasted like old oil, with a slightly burnt flavour. The best part? The wrap itself. The combination of it all was fairly dry, saved only by the accompanying sauce.
Halfway through, I accidentally swallowed a small piece of partly melted plastic inside my wrap. Feeling plastic in my throat killed my appetite almost immediately. I had taken a couple more bites before my brain caught up to my body. Credit where it’s due: staff verified the issue, apologised, refunded the wrap, and offered a replacement. I took the refund but declined another wrap, opting for an Ice Break instead.
Unfortunately, as the day progressed, my stomach became increasingly unsettled. Let’s just say the final outcome of that meal was… unpleasant.
Final Verdict: Lesson finally learned....
Read moreThis morning my whole family came down to try the Straddie Bakery and the young girl at the counter was so helpful putting through our order. When the older lady made our coffees she had missed 2 coffee. Instead of being apologetic she complained, rolled her eyes and said she would make it. 10 minutes had passed and as we were patiently waiting we came up when a coffee was called out. I kindly asked if this was the one we were missing and she again rolled her eyes and sighed. I wanted to ask if it was the double shot cap I was waiting on and she replied with there’s probably about 5 shots in there, yes yes it’s the one. Quite disappointed as we were understanding of her missing the coffee and were more than happy to wait. But unfortunately she took...
