The curried scallop pie I bought after reading a review that Banjo's scallop pies were the best in Tasmania was bland, flavorless and full of chunks of diced carrot to create the deception these were the roe of the many scallops within.
For $11.50 and an apparent guarantee of a minimum of 6 scallops per pie, I counted 3 measly scallops (with one of these cut into two pieces to further falsify the promise!)
Needless to say I couldn't taste the scallops over the small amount of curry powder added and the curry powder was also almost impossible to discern, if that gives you any impression of how close to utterly flavorless was the entire experience of eating this overpriced supposed delicacy.
I haven't eaten at Banjo's for many years after previously being equally as well disappointed by one of their greasy, collapsing pastry enveloped sacs of cardboard pulp textured like mincemeat with a gravy that tasted like it had had all of the flavour somehow removed mechanically prior to serving and, as such, I've avoided, where possible, their foodstuffs.
But, after foolishly heeding this poor advice from Google reviews regarding their status amongst the curried scallop pie makers of our island state, (reputed for its fine sea food), and Banjo's delivery to me of subsequent complete let down of a scallop pie (scallops barely qualifying as plural), I won't give them another go.

Read moreI recently ordered one of their brand new sausage, egg and bacon pies. The sausage in the middle was actually raw. I took it back to the counter, the staff member acknowledged it was raw and then took it to the baker out back who also agreed. I was given a refund and a new pie, but when I asked for the pie back so I could take photos to make a more formal complaint for health and safety reasons, I was not given it.
Other than this experience, the staff are always really nice and the food is good. I'm just extremely turned off and disappointed by this. As a customer, I feel I should be allowed to make a formal complaint about a food...
Read moreWent for breakfast and it was a little disappointing to be honest. We got a breakfast bun and a crossaint and both were not heated correctly, with fully cold sections throughout both. The food did taste good, just cold.
The girl who served us was lovely, but I thought it was a little inappropriate that her coworker (I assume manager) was loudly disciplining her from...
