We chose this place because they had an extensive, dedicated Gluten free menu - important as I'm coeliac.
All the supposedly GF food was listed in its own section under a "Gluten Free" banner.
We ordered the karaage chicken, teriyaki chicken salad and teriyaki salmon salad. I listed in the notes section of each item "GF" just to be safe.
After having placed the order the restaurant called to say that the teriyaki chicken wasn't GF. We said that it was listed on the GF menu, but the waitress said the chef had stated it wasn't. We were happy to switch it for something else. Asked if we could switch for the teriyaki beef don, which was also on the Gf - they said it was not gf. We found something to switch to.
They called back a minute later saying there was a mistake, the teriyaki chicken was gf, but the salmon salad was not. So we went back to our original order of teriyaki chicken salad and very confused by this point asked what was gf on the menu - switched to the sashimi salmon salad.
By this point there was a price difference and so to make up for what we'd paid we also ordered a sushi roll.
They called back a third time saying that it turned out the karaage chicken wasn't gluten free. Over it all at this point I said we'd just switch it to another teriyaki chicken salad and pay the extra when we got there.
I expected to pick up: X2 teriyaki chicken salads Sashimi salmon salad Tuna roll
The order didn't look right on arrival.
Asked the waitress who had been on the phone with us.
We received x2 teriyaki chicken salad and a teriyaki salmon salad. She said that she had explained that there had been a mistake and the whole time the only thing that hadn't been gluten free was the karaage chicken and that I'd agreed to go back to the original order, but replace the karaage with another teriyaki chicken. I can't comprehend any time any of that info transpired in the last phone call and I certainly didn't agree to it. The food looks great, don't get me wrong! But I've no clue at this point what's gluten free and what's not - and my allergies to gluten are serious. And really not sure if I was overcharged. Honestly the whole experience made us feel stuffed around and...
Read moreWon't be back. Had a meal at about 7:00 pm Sunday 3.10.2021. The restuarant was due to close at 8:30 pm.The food moving on the "train" looked well presented and tasty. The teriaki chicken that I ordered was tasty. However the food generally was not hot. Miso was barely warm/room temperature. Rice was starting to go "pasty". Restuarant atmosphere felt tense. No smiles on the face of the staff for anyone (not even each other) that I noticed during our meal. There was also loud crashing of dishes etc at various times. Maybe the staff had experienced a hard day and they were just trying to close up and get out? Maybe the staff were upset about something? Was someone throwing a tantrum? As I was leaving about 7:40 another large family group of people were trying to enter the restuarant and I overheard the reception staff tell the group that they close at 8:30.......despite lots of food on the "train". One of the group members stated that they would eat quickly, in an apologetic tone to probably try to obtain some food. Maybe my experience was bad timing at the end of the day? Maybe the restuarant should close earlier so that staff have the opportunity to provide service and meals prepared appropriately. It was one of the few times that I actually felt pleased to leave...
Read moreThis place has gone seriously downhill. Similarly to what others have said, staff are impolite with no personality. Unfriendly and rude to customers but happy to chat and laugh amongst themselves, almost makes you feel guilty for being there. Watched from where I sat as they prepared food dishes with the same plastic gloves they were using for EVERYTHING else. Including touching their phones which all the staff members behind the track were continuously on. It made me feel sick. Purely seeing this has made me never want to eat here again and we left this sitting quite quickly. I also watched takeaway orders come through, to which the employees used sushi rolls that had been sitting on the track for who knows how long. Very disappointed, when it first opened it was ok. Much better off going to Kosaten if you want a genuine sushi track experience with fresh food and polite staff. We won’t...
