The Club Hotel — Restaurant in Hobart

Bistro had good food I enjoyed, got the parmi, chips & salad, decent size, couldn’t finish it as full and satisfied. I’m taking 2 stars off due to pokies room, that is where I always end up losing. Have only ever won a couple of 300 - 600 jackpots in beginning when I moved to Tas, approx 8 years ago, nothing since and as a regular that is bad. I am at a financial loss from The Club. Also, this venue is the only one in Tas I’ve been to without a decent free coffee machine for patrons. They only have hot boiled water, you make your own International Roast Coffee Sachets and that disgusting long life milk in small pods they provide. If you want them to make you a better one from their coffee machine, you’ll be charged 4.50. This is really unfair conditions considering the amount of money I and others have lost. On a ratio, maybe 1-2% people will get a decent return (you’ll always see one or two in the full house being ahead of what they started with which causes envy for everyone else because the other 98 - 99% people will lose lots. I’m planning to quit pokies because I feel like it’s all rigged and only designed for high rollers who will ultimately lose anyway. Awful! Incredibly rude staff and awful service. My grandmother was accompanied here by a carer during the day as she is in a wheelchair, so that she could have a gamr. My grandmother is otherwise capable and cares for herself. The carer that wheeled her in was staying until 2pm and then leaving for my gran to be collected 2 hours later by myself once I'd finished at work. The carer while there, was abused twice saying she can't leave my grandmother on her own. As stated, the only disability my grandmother has is walking. Shes capable and deserves to live her life as she choses. The staff were incredibly rude the carer and went home feeling attacked and quite upset. I think this experience is disgusting and I'll be putting in a formal complaint as well as sharing this story with friends. We wont be back here. Very disappointing. Food flavourless and overcooked to the extent that it resemled nursing home cuisine, dirty drinking glasses with lipstick marks and unspeakable filth in the laboratory. Front of house disorganized, forgot my order and left myself and my husband waiting for a long period of time with no apology or curtesy unfortunately, also couldn't remember what IS or ISN'T available on the menu, then to top it off our ’vegetable plate’, costing at $12 was a very small (one cup) bowl of grey mushy vegetables. I understand if the venue was busy and not everything in hospitality can be perfect, but the restaurant was dead quiet. Therefore no exception to this incompetence. On the bright side, one of the front if house showed excellent customer service whilst serving myself and my sister.
