Breached consumer law and rudest manager I've ever met.
We arrived hoping for lovely evening with lots of yummy food. We were a disappointed by the vegetarian main options which were gnocchi, mushroo m risotto and tofu spring rolls. Many vegetarians would know a selection like this does not instill confidence at all. However the entres a sides looked so much more appealing. So we ordered a few of them and some drinks with the intention of slowly working our way through the more pleasing looking vegetarian dishes and ending with dessert.
The manager them came over and very rudely said we would need to pay a cover charge or order at least 1 main each. We said none of the mains looked good at all for vegetarians but was incredibly forceful and said because we get bread and a chocolate at the end we have to order amain or pay a covercharge. I was in shock, many restaurants will say when booking they have a minimum spend ir a set menu but when we booked we had the option of dining al a carte, so we chose that. This sounded very much like a made up rule the manager had pushed on us, he didnt even disclose how much a cover charge would be. We ended up ordering the gnocchi which as expected was dense, without flavour and surrounding a giant blob of curd?! not pleasant at all.
I was so frustrated because we would have actually ended up spending a lot more money if we were allowed to order how we wanted with multiple entrees, sides, desserts and drinks. But because he was so awful and spoke down to us we were just eager to leave.
While waiting I went to the ACCC website and of course this surprise cover charges or ordering rules goes against consumer laws. I told the manager this when we left and he did not care at all, he blamed it on the new waiter (who was nothing but polit through this whole process) and then upper management saying that actually he was the victim for having to tell customers this. I'd also add we had come in for an early dinner and they were very quiet, so no excuse can be made on that end. We paid the full bill and left with no attempt as resolution made my the manager.
I'll submit a complaint to ACCC which I wish I didn't have to do but this was a shocking abuse of his position for a...
Read moreWas recommended to visit and made a booking at 8:30pm as the previous sessions were all booked out.
The moment you arrive, for those who are weak with motion sickness, prepare yourselves. I personally did feel a bit sick from the revolving floors. They spin 360 degrees over a period of roughly 75 mins.
The lobster entree dish was plated nicely but don’t know what it was trying to achieve. The flavours were all over the place.
Ordered the duck, was cooked well and preserved the tenderness of the meat. The base sauce on the duck was caramelised to a nice sweet point. The side mix of vegetables on the side seemed weird, as it was a mix of everything with what seemed like a pumpkin base purée.
The fish dish, can’t remember what is was as they change it. Asked staff and came back with both hands in pockets and responded with an attitude.
The beetroot salad was cooked with heat, a first time experience having warm beetroot and felt that it was too soggy. The feta cheese would have been nice if it was broken down further instead of big chunks just dropped in it.
Had an amaretto sour cocktail. Felt like the bar tender had mixed out on the whipped egg white foam and maybe the lemon. Overall it was too sweet compared to the usual that I have experienced. I would recommend just going with their wine list.
Was lucky to view the next table order steak and prawns in which the hall staff cook next to tables with a small flame show. The dishes didn’t look so appetising and one of the staff next to the manager didn’t seem to know what she was doing. The manager himself was distracted by another staff and not sure if the meat was cooked to perfection.
Overall, the table staff assigned was great with outstanding customer service. Attention to details were a bit low for the general floor staff. A venue recommended for a special occasion if you’re not too fussy about the...
Read moreQuite disappointed as I have had dinner here a few times previously and had a great time, however my latest visit was just plain sad.
6:30 - Arrived for dinner 7:15 - Received drinks ordered on arrival 8:15 Entrees 9:30 Mains 10:30 Our own cake 11:00 left
On arrival we had an infant but were not offered a Highchair and had to grab our own. Unfortunately the mains made everyone super depressed as we had been waiting so long only to be served enough to maybe feed a toddler (3 pieces of meat and a dollop of mushroom sauce with no sides for $70+ is a joke).
Servers were rushing around so much (despite it not being busy), they did not listen to requests so needs were unmet, meals were taken before being finished and some dishes were not put through. (I had ordered a dessert with the 3 course meal only to find out at dessert time it was not put through or prepared)
The servers were in such a rush to make us leave that they offered to box up our cake so we could serve it to ourselves (everyone had travelled a long way so I guess they expected us to eat it in the car park??)
It was about 10:30 when our cake was finally dished to us. We were glad to finally leave but even then the staff were practically trying to push us out the door.
The scenery could have been a saviour had the glass been clean enough to look through and not completely smudged.
I understand fine dining is usually more about the complex flavours than having a full meal, but when everyone comes away starving, exhausted and going to McDonald’s on the way home you know it’s bad.
In short, Fine dining if you are fine with having food and still being hungry, waiting around for hours doing nothing, and if you want to be treated like a PITA by staff.
If you’re not into that sort of thing I would advise eating at: Literally anywhere else.
Thankyou for coming...
