Nice atmosphere, get in line early to order, Very quick meal arrival. We ordered the beer battered chips ($25), a small roast, ($18) a pub loaf ($7) and a pumkin soup ($12). All of these were excellent quality and tasted great - no exceptions. I would suggest you go for the regular size roast as I would have liked a bit more meat as it was very tender and so nice. The fish and chips meal was huge and very nice (2 big peices of fish, great batter, amazing salad and delicious dressing, chips, and a generous serve of tartar sauce). The pub loaf was crunchy and warm, and again, huge, and had plenty of garlic-herb butter with it. The pumpkin soup was fine, a bit plain for my liking, as I like a lot of condiments, such as sour cream, but did come with a small dinner roll and was still enjoyable. The total of our meal was $71 for these meals including two lemon-lime and bitters drinks. Definatley value for money and the amount of food we ordered was enough for three people, but there was only two of us. I would definatley reccommend going there for a meal, but book first and early if wanting to go on a Saturday and Sunday as it is very popular and our table postition was not a great one - right near the entry. Service was friendly too and polite which added to our enjoyment, it's great to eat in a place with no unhappy staff serving you :-) Will definately...
Read moreIt's a bistro in a casino, the view is the carry.
I came here during my stay at the lodgings in the casino for a conference. I came here for lunch a couple times and for dinner a few times.
The customer service was nothing remarkable. The food was alright, stuff you expect from a bistro in a casino. The main exception in the food at least was that the chips were cooked to perfection when it was served with the succulent burgers that accompanied them, the coleslaw was like sludge, nothing to post on social media about.
I did like the beef burger had a nice thick beef patty, I would certainly expect that given that it was $26, which is definitely more expensive than say Grill'd, but I am unsure whether Tassie folk have had Grill'd before.
Probably wouldn't come back to this place, but since they are the outlier in the casino for late night food offerings, I guess I will have to come back for maybe a couple more times, as there's not really any other restaurants in the vicinity of the lodgings.
If you have read this far, and you want something that will satisfy your sweet tooth, their vanilla slice isn't bad, it's actually quite nice, reminds me of the vanilla slice in country rural towns of Victoria, not that different from the rest of Hobart to be...
Read moreLive local so been here quite often. Have always enjoyed the setup the view and the relaxing atmosphere. Until very recently.
In the last a few months or more specifically the recent a few weeks, the service quality at the cafe has become more and more noticeably poor. The staff behind the bar would always talk and laugh loudly in foreign languages (well I guess you can't really laugh in different languages... but let's deem it is the case when the laugh is generated by the talk) and they would do so when serving a customer, which brings a quite uncomfortable feeling. Have seen them do this when receiving an order and also when handing out a coffee - times when the customers stand right in front of them. Hmmm... guess not really too terrible if it is allowed by the cafe's own management rules. And of course people would have full rights to speak and laugh as a free soul. But... just feels uncomfortable for people around if it makes sense.
So if say a few months ago I would give this place a 5 star - which I would indeed be happy to - in comparison, I can only give...
