I had meat balls which were under seasoned I left 1.5 out of 4 due to poor taste. We also ordered Lasagna see as per pic it was just a layer of meat between 2 small sheets of pasta, not layered. As well (some of the mince %5, was over cooked and left uneaten , this part of the review amended after the owners reply, my initial error.). Chips were a mix of warm and cool. Salad was doused in dressing and too much tomato. Coffee was so, so had to put sugar in it. This is a shame as we were looking forward to our lunch. I did raise the issue of the poor lasagna when it was put on the table but the serving person was not interested in my comment and I could not be bothered taking it further, I think the pic shows how poor it was.

Great place for a meal. Seems to be popular as a meeting place for friends. A bit quirky in the old tables and chairs. Wholesome tasty food. Good coffee. Edit, I revisited today, the place has changed its quirky decor to a very bland theme. I had the big breakfast and a mug of cappuccino. The food was great and a huge feed and the coffee was really good too. Exceptionally good value for money. I am informed that the issue I had with a server was as a result of her only having had two days on the job. Thanks to the employer for taking over and thanks for giving an inexperienced person a chance .

We were so excited to try the cafe, but we left so disappointed. The vanilla slice ($7) was the worst one I’ve had - the pastry was not flakey as I thought it would be. Instead, it was moist and very bendy. And chewy. That ruined the whole slice for me. The custard portion had an okay mouthfeel and flavour, but the icing was a little sweet for me. We also got a scallop pie. It was $12. There were a lot of veggies and only two scallops. It barely has any curry in it. The shepherd pie (also $12) was also veggie heavy and okay. It’s a pass for us.

Food was ok, not great. Burger bun was soggy, not very good quality ingredients, carrot and cucumber was strange (it was too wet with beetroot, tomato, and runny egg yolk and soggy bun). Chips were undercooked and raw inside. Food came out at very different times so one person was finished before we got our meals. Restaurant was dirty, glasses were old/scratched/cloudy. There were 5 staff in the kitchen, 2 waiters, and 1 making coffee and only about 15 customers in the middle of lunch service, but we still had to order at the counter and waited a long time for our meals. I was watching other customers and they waited 25 minutes just for potato wedges. No table service, no one cleaning. Staff seemed stressed and were not very friendly, but also not busy. I guess they have low morale or bad relationship with management/owner. If the workers were kept happy and a few changes were made it could be a much better restaurant. The lady who I think was the owner was rude to us, and very friendly 1 minute later to someone she knew. The coffee was excellent and the atmosphere is really nice. The shop just needs some constructive changes, better communication and morale, cleaning schedules, better kitchen timing or training so the food is cooked properly, comes out at the same time, doesn't sit around going soggy while waiting to be finished etc. Ok cafe, lots of potential.

After reading other reviews, maybe this was just a bad day. Or maybe my expectations are a bit higher. But I think with a few well thought-out changes and better quality food it could be...

Ordered at 11:45 food didn't arrive until 12:30, the chips ine my meal were cold.

Edit:.not sure why it won't let me reply to your response.

As someone who has worked in and ran kitchens for a good chunk of my working life, I'm aware most items don't take longer than 30 minutes to get that meal out for a restaurant. For a cafe 20-30 minutes. Anything you have to cook on the spot doesn't have a long cook time. So that's poor time management or lack of staff on your part. Any head chef I've worked under would chew me out for that. I strongly contemplated sending it back, I didn't have the time after that to wait for your kitchen to fix that meal, I had a schedule to stick too. Nor did I want re heated chips and fish, I'm well aware of these practices in kitchens to save on time...

Delicious food yummo! Eggs were perfect and everything delish. Lovely little cafe and nice atmosphere but the serving size was very underwhelming. I ordered the big breakfast and got 2 eggs, 1 bit of sourdough, 2 small bits of halomi, a morcel of greens, half of a small tomato and a small bowl of beans. It was all delicious and perfectly cooked, but it was small, and $25. Even a second bit of toast would have been great. I appreciated some folk might not finish the big breakfast and think we should reduce food waste where ever we can, but I'd assume if you werent that hungry you wouldnt go for it. My friend made their own due to fodmap allergy and she paid $25 for a smaller amount of food than me! Overall, easy fix and a nice place to eat for the pensioners...
