The staff are friendly, the place needs to be lot cleaner, their kitchen floor had spills and food on the floor that when you enter you can see it all, I understand that kitchen can be messy at times but for customers to see meat, vegetables and noodles on the floor is not a good look. The room behind the counter needs a good vacuum and mop, customers shouldn’t see all that. Their salt and pepper squid is too oily, the squid is soft but the batter is just oil, you bite into it and oil is pouring out. Their pork wonton soup is too salty. I hope the little black bits that I scooped out that was floating in the soup was just little burnt onions or garlic. (I didn’t question it because our other order was still coming) My mother had ordered soft drink and she had said it loud enough for all of us to hear “not to forget her drink,” the Zen Boa owner was looking at my mother, my dad repeated the drink that my mother had, the owner was than looking at my dad (not sure if she had put it down-obviously not) and We all heard my parents back and forth and my dad telling the owner.
When I went to pay my order, the owner questioned me about the drink that was already mentioned and repeated to her prior and I informed her that they had already told her, she then denied it even though we all heard him saying it to her but the owner still argued back. Than proceeded to say “I didn’t do anything wrong” 🤦🏾♀️ I don’t know who is wrong here.
Zen Bao chef, maybe next time when customers tell you their order, you should repeat it back to them, maybe that will help everyone or pay one bill.
hence why I had ask you to repeat what I said, not because I want to know the price so don’t push the calculator to my face to see the price, I asked you to repeat my order, so you charge me my correct order.
Now adding to my headache(not related to this interaction) is a sore tummy and think it’s going to be a long night on the dunny later and coughing because the...
Read moreThis restaurant was my favourite in Sorell. Not any more!! The most distressing dining experience of my life. 7 adults, 3 children. Seated at 6pm for my mothers 86 th Birthday. We waited 50 minutes and watched as another couple were seated and served. We had not even been approached by any of the staff. I went to the bar and asked if we could order our drinks. The waitress Reluctantly complied. We waited another 10 minutes and I approached the bar again. She was busy shuffling paper. I said I would wait as the children were getting restless by then. I then had time to go to the takeaway along the road to get chips for the children as they were very hungry before we were even able to order. The soup had hair in it, much to my grandsons disgust. We were given our meals randomly over a period of time. By the time I received my meal at 7.50 pm I was too distressed to eat it. We finished and left my daughter and grandson waiting for the desert that was part of the banquet. She waited until 8.20 pm then approached the bar and asked for dessert in a takeaway container. She later told me she felt like crying and had never had this happen before. In the background of this drama takeaway orders were being processed and delivered. The 2 couples who came in after us were served and left before we received anything. Had to ask for water and cutlery. Was given an eye roll, sighed and tutted by the waitress when I was given the incorrect order and had the temerity to ask for the right rice. We were not offered any discount for this disaster. NEVER AGAIN! So distressing that this happened in our own town. I have waited until I wasn’t so upset to give this review as I wanted to be factual and...
Read moreTable of 5 We were one of two tables for lunch, service was slow and lethargic. Not sure if it was an off day or what, but the servers were the opposite of attentive and seemed to want to disappear from the floor as soon as possible. Not a great vibe from them at all. The fried dimsims and spring rolls were delightful. However, it went down hill from there. We ordered the $42 per person banquet. With the food we received, we sent back just under half of it. We couldn't stomach much more. The satay chicken entrees (which I bought separate to the banquet) were literal rubber in batter. I struggle to think of how one can get chicken to that consistency. All sauces tasted like they had come from jars and mixed with pure gelatin, even the soup. Though the soup base flavour was nice, chicken and corn. Desserts felt like a soggy Cherry ontop to end lunch.
If this lunch had cost half the price I would probably be less harsh, however I will never recommend this restaurant with the quality they provide at those prices. Cheep and chewy take away Chinese at restaurant prices. Don't...
