Cheng's Chinese restaurant — Restaurant in Hughenden

Polite and efficient service. I ordered 3 mains and a large fried rice, paid more than $70 and had 4 containers in a box given to me. It was takeaway but no serviettes or cutlery was in the box. I probably missed the sign to collect those things on my way out. The fried rice contained grains of rice that seemed to be actually burnt, that surprised me. My seafood combination appeared to contain a lot of vegetables but I was very hungry. The singapore noodles were devoured by my partner who usually eats only half as much. The beef with black bean sauce was "beautiful". I personally think it was a bit too expensive for chinese food but we are in the middle of nowhere in Hughenden, Qld. And it was a Sunday when both pubs were shut due to a lack of cooks in town. Only other choice for food was...

We were just passing through and craving some Chinese food. Ordered the special fried rice and curry chicken and it was absolutely delicious. Lots of meats, crispy and fresh vegetables and full of flavor. We plan on ordering food a 2nd time before we leave town.

Although the restaurant is looking pretty tired hat's off to the elderly couple running this place for 32 years. Not sure what happened with previous negative reviews, perhaps it was a rough patch but it's rather sad seeing this restaurant up for sale.

Yep Chengs Chinese is awesome and what makes them more awesome is Lisa will let you order a lunchtime special even at dinner...shh...just dont tell everyone!... looks like a local incentive...but if youre short on pennies and dont want to cook for 2-3 nights while youre in town...Chengs lunchtime dinnertime specials are the way to go!
