I think of my self as a harsh critic because most of the time when we go to a restaurant, we pick it to bits when we are unsatisfied with the food and staff etc… To start with I’m a bit of a clean freak and if a place doesn’t look clean especially when it’s a place you want to eat at I get a bit put off. My first impressions were… The decor was ok, but could have done with a bit of improvement, we sat next to a mirror kind of wall feature which I think hadn’t been cleaned in a while and looked a bit unclean, and the class wear wasn’t as clean as I would have liked it either, finger prints and smudges were noticeable for such I highly rated restaurant that was a bit if a disappointing start. Including the window views, they weren’t really the greatest…in view were bogan like looking buildings across the road not a pretty site to look at, but that’s no fault of the restaurant I understand you can’t choose attractive Neighbours, but maybe if they had put up some majestic fancy style curtains and draped to the sides, the outside view might not have stood out as much. But apart from all that I would highly recommend this place for its food and service. The food was really flavorsome and tasty was hard to really fault, the food presented really well and appealing to the eye. The staff were really friendly and pleasant. I like how they made the birthday person feel really special, even though my husband didn’t really like the attention he had a smile on his face from it all. At the end of the evening, We ordered a hot drink each the Badam Shakkar Dhoodh and both burnt our tongues as the drinks were extremely hot, we were not warned before we trustingly put the cups to our lips to drink, so when I told the waitress, she replied that thats how your supposed to drink that particular drink. Well I don’t know about that as it didn’t really sit right with me and I would have appreciated it if we were warned before hand. And I’m not exaggerating on the temperature it stung both our tongues quite badly. However after it had cooled down it was really nice and flavorsome but we did have to wait at least 15mins or more for it to cool down enough to be able to drink it. But over all I would definitely come back here for more of the delicious food flavors...

So I am in several facebook foodie groups and people would often ask for recommendations for an Indian Restaurant and whenever I would check the comments chakra would have the most votes. Being a food explorer (lol) I decided to check their menu, reviews etc here on google. Upon seeing the menu I thought its a bit expensive and the dishes looked very modernised and I thought it didnt look like an Authentic Indian place. You know that famous quote “uunchi dukaan feekey pakwaan”. I thought its not really for me but I was wrong. Going to chakra is different than going to your average indian restaurant. The customer service is their highest priority. The ambience is very royal, relaxed and fine dine with light Sitaar /raag music playing in the background. The dim lights with candles on tables give you a different feel that you wouldnt get in other restaurants. You place your orders on tabs and the shortlisting helps with quicker decision of what you want to get. Right before your food arrives you are given hot plates. Now comes to the food. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants here which have their own unique way of cooking, some use lots of spices and flavours and some dont, chakra was the latter. Was it the best indian food i have had ? No but it wasnt bad either. As the owner had explained previously in other review replies they dont use veg oil, packet spices and over complicated unhealthy ingredients. The food wasnt punch you in your face explosion of flavours which I usually prefer but a rather light homestyle way of cooking which is good as well because its “good on your gut” as said by the owner. 🙂 In the end it really depends on what your priorities are going in a eat out place. What matters more to you. I would say you have to try it atleast once to make...
Read moreA genuine, cultural experience. So very, very welcoming. Amazing table service, wonderful staff and delicious food.
Expectation: An Indian restaurant with good cocktails..
Reality: One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. And really, REALLY good cocktails (try Karma!).
I visited for the first time last night, my friend was celebrating her birthday - I will now recommend this restaurant to anyone - especially for an occasion!
We were welcomed, invited into the beautifully decorated building and seated thoughtfully with napkins placed on our laps. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very patient - handing us little electronic tablets to browse the menu from and order if we like, still continuing to check on us to find out if we had any questions or additional orders to make!
The night only continued to excel from there! The food was incredible and brought out in a thoughtful way - making sure we were completed with one course, before beginning another.
Chakra offers a fine dining experience for a very reasonable price - and it's absolutely one of the best food experiences I have ever had. I enjoyed being welcomed so fully into the culture, and I enjoyed embracing the moments offered to us as a group - I couldn't stop smiling!
Thank you Chakra! You guys are absolute...
