Prepare to be amazed by the delightful experience awaiting you at this charming cafe! From the scrumptious food to the warm and welcoming staff, every aspect of this place is top-notch and sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

Indulge in the mouthwatering pecan pie pancakes – a hidden gem that will surely exceed your expectations. Despite their smaller size, these pancakes pack a flavorful punch and are surprisingly filling. If you prefer a quieter dining experience, consider visiting early for a peaceful and enjoyable brunch setting, perfect for relaxing, reading, or studying.

While the cafe can get bustling during peak brunch hours, the efficient service ensures that you receive your delicious meal promptly. Any small mishaps, like a drink mix-up, are swiftly and professionally handled by the lovely staff, further highlighting their dedication to providing excellent customer service.

Don't miss out on trying their unique toast, a delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors that will tantalize your taste buds in a whole new way. The cafe itself is adorable, exuding a cozy vibe that enhances the overall dining experience.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. With its delicious food, lovely ambiance, and exceptional service, this cafe is a must-visit for a memorable and...

Located on the outside of the big new Woolworths building, you can get really convenient free 90 minute parking in the undercover parking lot. Chubby boy has a big window style walk up counter where you need to order food and drinks. There is indoor seating and the interior is really light and bright. There is usually some outdoor seating too, but on my visit there was some construction going on outside so they packed away that area. You need to walk up to the counter to order, but food and drinks are delivered to your table. They serve muffins and croissants along with Japanese style Sando and Shokupan. It's like toast made out of thick cut soft white bread, served sweet (like french toast would be, but it's not French toast) with ice cream, syrup and other toppings like fruit or chocolate. There's quite a few things on the menu that aren't available like pancakes and Japanese cheese cake, it would be great if they could start making these too. Without them it's a bit limited. Maybe it was because half the seating area was closed that they weren't making everything on the menu, I don't know and the counter staff didn't mention. Overall the shokupan I got - strawberry and ricotta, was delicious. Little bit on the pricy side at $18, but satisfying...

Typically I wouldn’t take the effort of posting a review unless I have had an amazing experience or a very underwhelming experience. This review is the latter.

Too many things went wrong…

  1. Service 2/10 - While I was ordering, the cashier only gave me half her attention. She kept looking away or focusing on other things, which meant I had to repeat my order multiple times. On top of that, many tables were left dirty with the previous customers’ dishes still there—completely unattended.

  2. Punctuality 0/10 - It was Sunday brunch, so I expected a wait of around 30 minutes. Instead, I waited 30 minutes just for an iced matcha pistachio. Then another 20 minutes passed before half of my food order arrived. By the time everything finally came out, the store was nearly empty. Absolutely appalling wait time.

  3. Quality of Food 3/10 - The food was tasty. However, when pictures are shown on the menu, you’d expect the item to resemble the image. This was far from the case. When I asked whether I’d received the wrong order, I was told the drink had been changed. To put it into perspective: it was like ordering a Mercedes and receiving a Toyota. Both are nice, but I was sold a dream.

Would I recommend this place to anyone? Most...

Fell into the instagram hype of the aesthetic interiors and shokupan. I ordered the ham&cheese croissant which I asked for toasted. When it arrived it was evidently toasted on the outside but when I bit into it, it was still very cold on the inside and the cheese wasn't even melted. Asked the waitress to re-toast it and they gave me a second free one. Which was nice. I'm a huge fan of matcha lattes and always trying out different restaurants take on matcha. Sadly to say I was hugely disappointed, as I assumed this was a Japanese fusion cafe. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk and it was probably one of the WORST matchas I've had. Too milky, very white in colour with no matcha flavour at all. Tasted like I was just drinking oat milk. If I order and pay for a matcha latte (which isn't cheap) I expect a strong matcha flavour, not milk. My friend ordered the Bacon & Egg sando which was nice, there was a lot of BBQ sauce and was very overpowering though, not for everyone's taste. Overall, the place was cute and nice to take pictures, shokupan was ok, the bread was a bit dry and not much taste after a few bites. I'll be back here again if they can makeover their matcha.

We went here on Boxing Day to try something new for brunch. The place is nice and comfy. Feels like a fusion of Cafe and restaurant. Menu selection is, unique and seems to cater those with sweet tooth or savoury taste. For beverage, we ordered iced matcha latte and a lactose free cappuccino. For food, we decided to go with tonkotsu bacon and egg sando. The food was decent. The combination is great. Portion was okay for the price ($18). The bacon was juicy, the scrambled egg was flavourful, and the 'sando' or the Japanese bread was soft and sweet but not too overpowering. We enjoyed it. The same thing can't be said on the drinks. Matcha latte was, tasteless with powdery texture. Both of us are matcha lovers so yes, we sure know when no effort was put into the making of the latte. The cappuccino was lukewarm which was disappointing to say the least. Pity as everything is fine, except the drinks. Fix it and I think you will be ok. For now, 3 stars.
