Judging by the majority of reviews, Meraki does a lot more right than not, so I'm just going to assume we caught one of the staff on a bad day. She ( I'll call her 'spectacles' ) was rude and condescending; like we had put her out by patronising the establishment. The food was good and it's a nice little spot but if the service is below par then, for me, that pretty much taints the whole experience. The unfortunate thing was she displayed a similar attitude to some other patrons whilst we were there and they just upped and left. I would have happily given 4 to 5 stars if it wasn't for that staff member.
Edit; in response to the owner.
Yeah hi. This would have been the morning of the 24th of July, which is obviously a little while back now . I was meaning to post a review the day after but figured it wasn't worth the effort. The reason I posted it now was that your Cafe came up in conversation and so I decided I'd go through with the review. No biggie. Like I said the food was good and you've got a nice little spot there, but when you're forking out $50 plus for some breakfast, you want to...
Read moreOrdered at the counter and went to sit at a table outside, it hadn’t been cleaned so I went inside to ask the staff to buss the table.. the French barista told me not to talk to her because she was busy and ask the waitstaff.. which were no where to be found. I ended up getting a serviette, found the spray on the counter, and sprayed it down myself.. I wiped the table and the serviette ended up looking black. So disgusting. Food plates were left outside after patrons were long done, and seagulls swooped in and fought and ate all the leftovers. We ordered our food at 10:06 and I went in at 10:58 to ask where our food was, it came out a few minutes later and we were offered free coffees as compensation.. no thanks 🙂↔️ Not enough staff on for how busy it was, I can appreciate that staff in that area may be hard to come by, but if you’re going to run a business in a busy seaside town, you need to come up with a better...
Read moreOrdered the Veggie Big Breakfast and requested a vegan option - was told this is no problem by the waitperson. The meal arrived and I was told that the mushrooms were marinated in honey (I.e., not vegan) and that they would just take them away if I didn’t want them, but couldn’t offer anything in return. This was quite an awkward position to be put in. Of course I didn’t want the non-vegan mushrooms but that left me with a rather underwhelming breakfast of blanched unseasoned spinach, tomatoes, beans, and dry toast for $28…
I hope the owners can consider this experience and provide more information upfront about what the vegan option will actually look like. If items are being removed then wouldn’t it be fairer to offer alternatives or...
