We went to the Gorges cafe at 11.15am for lunch on a Friday (school holidays). I asked for a lunch menu but was told lunch wouldnât start till 11.30, which was fine. I then asked if we could view the lunch menu in meantime and the waitress snapped âno - not until 11.30â so we went and sat down. I went back to counter at 11.30 and asked again for a lunch menu. I was again snapped at by the waitress that lunch was now not till 11.45 and so ordered 2 coffees. This waitress (the one cashiering/snaking at me about the menus) was possibly the rudest waitress I have ever encountered in my life and is seriously a bad look for the cafe. I even asked her if I had done something to upset her - she was so hostile. While we were waiting for coffees, we heard another waitress advise other customers that lunch was now not till 12. The staff were friendly, service was great and timing was very reasonable considering it was a busy Easter weekend. Husband had poached eggs on toast with bacon, mushrooms and hash browns, both kids had a kids breakfast which was a good size of 1 fried egg, on two triangles of toast (no fancy bread, just normal white toast, spot on for kids I think!) Bacon and a hash brown. I had the French toast one day which was very nice and then The Cure on the 2nd visit which was very yum! The coffee was nice and hot and of good quality. My only issue is that there is no big breakfast on the menu. My husband ordered eggs your way on toast then you have to get the bacon, mushrooms and hash...
