Unfortunately we had a terrible experience here. Mainly due to a single rude staff member. We came for breakfast and ordered 3 meals and drinks myself, my wife and our 5 year old son. It was busy, but the meals arrived about 30mins later.... Well part of them... 2 meals and no drinks. We waited, wife and son started theirs 45 mins after ordering we asked, and a rude lady came to our table glared at our plates and us asking what's the problem?! When my wife exaiend she looked at a docket, and demanded to know how many pancakes were on our son's plate. When we said 3, she derisively said well that's an adult plate then, muttered and walked away. Not sure if that meant we were getting our meal, drinks finally arrived 5 mins later. Watching the other tables (who arrived after us) getting served with smiles we wondered what was going on, eventually about 1 hour and 15 mins after we ordered and me nibbling on bits of the other two meals we decided to call it quits. We told the same rude lady who was talking to the other tables that were leaving, she said well your order is there on the kitchen list, it's just last behind the others as they ordered first, and anyway you didn't pay for the extra meal.. Which upset my wife as she'd paid $70 for the meal. When asked to check the menu, it was thrown at her by the lady. As she was checking the prices (* spoiler *we had paid for 3 meals) the same rude staff member (maybe it was a manager) came shouting at my wife in front of the whole restaurant that we hadn't cleared our plates away! When we my wife said she didn't know we had to clear away plates, the staff member mockingly said "I came to all the tables and said to do so" ... She hadn't come to ours, when this was said to her, "well didn't you hear me saying to the other tables".. No wasn't listening in on other tables and either way couldn't hear with sound of my stomach rumbling...! Left the Pelly's cafe annoyed, wife crying and the morning tainted by the experience. Maybe it was a busy morning, maybe the staff member had a bad day, maybe it was the colour of my skin (yep got that vibe from her) but whatever it was her behaviour reflects badly...

Me and my family went in for a meal and ordered $130 worth of food and drinks for our breakfast… one of our orders was pancakes and we asked for pancakes with JUST a fruit salad and a lemon for my sister(18) who is allergic to maple syrup (sucrose intolerance)…(she has had the same order for 10 years) once the food was brought out there was maple syrup on it and my mother asked politely if they would be able to switch it out for pancakes without maple syrup… the young girl serving said she was going to check with her manager. The manager came out and asked us what the problem was and when we re-explained the situation she replied with “there is a screen to check your order before paying” in an extremely condescending manor before turning her back to us and walking away, then a 3rd and final member of staff came out (the order taker) and told us something along the lines of “ our pancakes come with maple syrup standard and you never told me you didn’t want it” once again in a very passive aggressive demeanour, my mother replied with “it’s okay we will just leave it” and the lady walked away. Then after all of that the manager came out with a fresh plate of pancakes (the way we ordered)

All of this resulted in my 18 year old sister breaking down in tears, having to leave the cafe and go back to the camp. We then had to finish our food without her and bring her pancakes in a takeaway box for her.

If we had of known we would have been attacked and made feel the way we felt leaving the cafe, it would have been easier to just leave the food.

I can safely say me or my family will never been returning and hope we can spare someone else the punishment of listening to the desperate customer service from...

We are highly disappointed with the treatment we received at this café. Our group of nine people was planning to have breakfast, and after our morning walk and jog, we preferred to sit outside to enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful scenery. We moved the tables to create a more comfortable space, but the manager suddenly approached us and told us we shouldn't have moved the tables. One of us apologised, but instead of understanding, she responded rudely, saying, 'You could have asked.' She then sat us inside at a very cornered spot, far from the rest of the café. We were offended by how she handled the situation, especially considering that only a few other customers were present. Some of us insisted that we should not stay inside, as we preferred the outdoor setting, but the manager was unaccommodating. To make matters worse, we couldn't help but feel that our ethnicity influenced the manager's treatment of us, as we are a group of more prominent Asian individuals. This experience felt discriminatory and unjust. We hope the café will take this feedback seriously and address the issue of customer service...

Please learn to make iced matcha if selling it 😊 What I got this morning was not an Iced matcha, and when I went back to talk to the staff they said yes it was and showed me they used a already made matcha syrup? In a squeezy tube that they drizzle around the edge of the cup and add milk and ice…( ladies words not mine) again not an iced matcha… it was milk with drizzled matcha syrup on the sides of the cup. Wasn’t offered a refund or anything instead, the lady added more syrup and stirred it up and said “is that good?” 😅😅 They also added whipped cream and cinnamon spice.. which I have taken off to see if my drink was green because it didn’t taste like matcha For reference please read below 😊 STEP 1: You put a few teaspoons of matcha powder in a measuring cup and add a few tablespoons of hot water. STEP 2: Whisk it until the matcha has dissolved and then you pour in the remaining water and whisk some more. STEP 3: Add ice to a glass. And then, pour the milk the glass and then add the matcha.

Very disappointed! Have eaten here a few times over the last couple years but unfortunately for what we paid this year and got was day light robbery. We had one big breakfast, smashed avo and feta (hardly any) on toast and kids pancake (yes only 1!!) with extra bacon, 1 juice and 1 coffee. $78!! The kids pancake and i say again ONLY ONE is $12.50 which was hard and not edible (one of the most cheapest and easiest things to make) ordered some bacon on the side, $5 for a small piece of bacon. The big breakfast is just loaded with spinach leaves to make it look big. I understand times are hard and prices have to go but to pay $17.50 for a kids breakfast and it was one hard pancake with extra bacon is just outrageous!!! Will never dine in again. Cheaper to go for lunch at the pub 😔

We had a good breakfast at the Pelican Cafe on Grey Street in Kalbarri. They have indoor and outdoor seating, casual decor and atmosphere. Menu is Australian. Prices reasonable and service friendly and timely. On the occasion, we enjoyed their pancake stack and smashed avo on sourdough. Everything served tasted pretty good, long blacks served on the morning were just fine as well. Overall, this was a good brekky, one we'd be happy to repeat next time in Kalbarri. Note: If you are here for breakfast, there is a Pelican feeding just across the street around 8.45am each morning, as long as the Pelicans are around.
