Great food, let down by poor service today.
We’ve always enjoyed the food here — it’s consistently good, and today was no exception.
Unfortunately, the service from one staff member, Briony, really let the experience down. When I politely waved and said, “Excuse me, could you please check on the rest of our order?” she accused me of snapping my fingers and responded curtly with, “It’ll come when it’s ready.” It felt unnecessarily hostile and confrontational.
Later, as she was serving the food, she loudly chastised my young children for not saying thank you — even though she hadn’t finished placing the plates down. It felt like she was looking for a reason to scold rather than serve, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
On a more positive note, the manager came to collect our finished plates and made a clear, genuine effort to be warm and friendly — which we really appreciated.
Briony’s attitude, however, was a stark contrast and well below the standard you'd expect from any hospitality setting. Hopefully this feedback leads to a serious review of her approach...
Read morePerfectly pleasing cafe that I've passed through a couple of times recently on road trips. I'm not otherwise familiar with the 'Dome' franchise, and the food is all pretty standard working-class fare, e.g. steak sandwich, burgers, lasagne, but all decently done and an elegant building with friendly service. I'm a bit amused by some of the reviews here that seem to expect something much more special. For a start, the menus (clearly for the whole franchise) are absurdly expensive for a cafe in a small town, and indeed I was amazed on New Year's Day, when it was fairly quiet, to find they were still serving everything. No doubt to comply with the menu, they have to prepare some things in advance and have them sitting around. Additionally it's Katanning, so I can understand that they can't always get world-class staff. Honestly, the place is perfectly fine. If you have the time to write snarling reviews expecting high-quality food, maybe don't go somewhere where all the food is some variation of bread, meat, and cheese?...
Read moreLoved the wedges and great if strong coffee. Needs more signage. A bit dark. Great to see an old building given a new life.
3 months on still no extra signage only one sign around the corner ...needs something on Clive Street to tell the tourists you are there. Ladies toilets way too dark...I do not feel comfortable using them. Does anyone from Dome read these messages or even care? Someone else commented that it was too warm. I was there yesterday (it was around 13 deg outside but felt warm in the sun) and had to move tables as the heater was blowing hot air onto me even though the staff member insisted it was blowing cool air. Food excellent and great coffee. Pleasant staff. Keep up the good work everyone but PLEASE put some stronger globes in the ladies loo or someone may have a fall if they are not...
