My first visit to Kelly's Bakery was last Wednesday, returning from a holiday.
The croissants were perfect, but the coffee was not hot enough. The bakery had a nice vibe, with people seeming to enjoy themselves, and most staff giving the appearance that they were happy to be at work.
I would have given five stars if I hadn't the misfortunate of being served by Patricia (name advised by the barista), who spoke so quickly and seemed very stressed. No friendly welcome or tone throughout.
Also, I asked for two croissants, dependant on the price and she returned from the kitchen with both already bagged and ready for sale. Her curt manner was dismissive, and I later noticed her speaking to other customers in the same way.

Read moreI regularly get a pie and coffee from here with no complaints in the past. Today 12/10/21 they lost my future business. My wife ordered coffee with no sugar. When received and tasted the coffee it was extremely sweet hence sugar had been added by a staff member. But that was when I was old, I am so much younger now. On this morning visit, breakfast was on my mind. I got your basic scrambled eggs on toast and a long black. My mind was cast adrift to foggy mornings staying at my Grandmas house. The combustion heater, the woolen jumper, the morning hug and of course, the plate of eggs she would prepare for me. A no nonsense meal that provided fuel for the pilgramage head on the rail trail. A couple of bee stings for later on and I was a content wayfarer. Kelly's ......don't ever get cranky and close. Your service to wayfarers has not...
