Fully packed on a Saturday night with a queue outside the shop. Luckily we had a table reservation.
Unique settings of the restaurant with privacy screens to allow you and your party to be enveloped in a more cosy atmosphere.
Awesome Korean barbecue menu packed with perfectly marinated and fresh meat selection. However I have yet to try the wagyu beef bbq combination (must be really awesome).
We have ordered a Combination B bbq set with unique fruit (kiwi) base marinated beef and pork to give it an extra tenderising effect to soften the meat texture whilst giving it a hint of sweetness to bring out the flavour.
We also had the mouth-watering jajjangmyeon (which we ordered 2 extra serves after finishing the first one within 5 minutes). Flavourwise, its not too salty but packed with flavours that will overthrow your perception of your typical jajjangmyeon.
Lamb skewers are also a must order item on the menu right after your meat bbq session. Freshly grilled lamb on skewers accompanied with spice seasoning condiment on the side really elevate the lamb flavours. Top it up with a cold Hite or Cass beer was definitely a match made in heaven ( too exaggerated? Try it yourself).
We did order a pork stew which was amazingly flavoured and you could taste the sweetness of the broth infused with white pepper. Goes well with a bowl of rice.😋😋😋😋😋
However, the kimchi and seafood pancakes were not available at that time which kinda bumm us out a little. Hopefully they will be back soon.
Overall, we had a very satisfied meal at Sik Gaek and will for sure return in the future whenever that korean bbq craving strikes.
Btw parking spots are plenty!!!!🎯

Read moreFirst timer here trying a new place. This restaurant is always busy. We booked in advance to ensure we got a table.
The place is designed uniquely, the atmosphere feels like we were in Korea, I guess the noises from people drinking, talking and laughing so hard. So depending what you're after, it's not for a quiet dinner.
The seating design made me feel having a personal space, which is a good thing.
Food came quickly and presented nicely too. One thing was we had to ask our rice order twice.
We ordered the blackbean noodle, sweet&sour pork and cheese Tteokbokki.
Noodle was smooth and on the point taste, it's enjoyable.
The sweet & sour pork tasted great too. The pork batter was on the chewy sides and the sauce was indeed thick. It's totally different from the swee n sour pork at Chinese restaurants.
The Tteokbokki came in big hot pan. Was told not to move it with hand as it was very hot. I ordered with cheese which kept stretching unbelievably long to the point it became a bit annoying. I may ask for a scissor next time. However it was a yummy tteokbokki to share. It's big portion that I had to do a takeaway.
The side dish we had was kimchi, marinated onion and pickled radish. We really enjoyed them, I like the onion best.
The staff is polite and yea they're busy. I really was impressed with the guy at the counter, friendly, courteous and helpful.
Just a reminder, I find the price is rather high.
We will come back again to try...
Read moreDO NOT GO DURING PEAK PERIOD HORRIBLE SERVICE
I'll start by saying the food is amazing, authentic and good value for money. However, I am ALWAYS questioning if it worth coming back because of the HORRIBLE SERVICE!
Things that has happened on multiple visits (not just today's meal):
They would bring the meat out, but no grill to barbecue with (which makes me worry that meat may go bad)
I request for service, and the waiter will say one moment (as they are seating someone) but then they forget about us
Similarly they have bells to call for service, but tonight I had to press the bell 6 times for them to come. This is because when the bell rings, the number comes up on the LED sign but disappears after 10 seconds. And no one is watching the sign.
They forget orders, when one part of our meal is out we have to remind them to bring the rest out
They forget requests and require multiple reminders (eg. Cutlery, side dish, add ons, drinks etc)
They seem to prioritise Korean speaking guests (which is fair as this is restaurant is targeted at them)
They get requests wrong (I'll ask for more kimchi they give me other side dishes)
We keep coming back because the food is good, but not sure if we'll keep coming back if the service doesn't improve!
If it's too busy PLEASE hire more staff! My experience at your restaurant is ALWAYS...
