Number 9 Dream — Restaurant in Leongatha

Everytime I was in leongatha I would pop into this cafe and order my favorite salad bowl. The food here was always fresh, quality and tasty. I’m not sure if it was a once off or if something has changed in the kitchen but I experienced one of the worst paid for meals of my life. Right away I knew my meal wasn’t going to be up to standard - for starters it arrived in a plastic throw away container but the real kicker was the food - it seemed like it was made the night before, and obviously just been taken out of the fridge and delivered to my table. Everything was old and stale and the ingredients were not the usual standard. I don’t usually write up reviews like this but my stomach was in knots when I got home. It was just an awful experience and I regret eating it - I should have returned the meal for a refund but I was so hungry after looking forward to my fav dish in Leongatha. UPDATE January 2025 - Only drawback is the recent menu changes - quinoa bowl is now served in a plastic takeaway bowl regardless of whether you eat in. No dressing anymore and no avocado. Not sure if it’s a cost cutting measure or a staffing issue, but this change loses points from us. Not yet sure if other menu staples have been similarly downgraded.

This is easily the best cafe food in Leongatha. Great range of hearty traditionals with a modern spin, plus super tasty vegan options and generally food that is both filling and healthy. Probably the most underrated cafe in the region. Even if you’re not Vegan, try their crispy tofu burger with crazy yum homemade chips and aioli, or their bean and rice bowl. Anything actually. I eat there almost every day when I can! 10/10 👌👌👌

Update: 11.08.2022. Just had their bean n rice bowl and almond capp again this morning. Both were exceptional. They somehow just get better. How’s that even possible?
