At first, being new to the area we were excited by this restaurant but after a few visits the excitement has pretty much been squashed by rude staff and inconsistencies with dishes, their ramen doesn't look like the pictures on the menu and by that I mean they come with the meat and maybe some cauliflower, broccoli and carrots if you're lucky, some days maybe you'll get corn and spring onion too but that isn't the mushrooms, egg, etc; that they advertise comes with it, at times the broth can be super flavourful but other times you'd barely be able to call it flavoured water, other dishes are inconsistent, each time there are slight differences and the dishes almost never taste the same, I also wouldn't recommend getting take away from here unless it's sushi, portions are considerably smaller than what you'd receive in the restaurant and we have found incorrect ingredients in what you would think were quite simple and basic dishes and to top it all off staff never smile, they aren't very polite and one lady gives the foulest looks and personally makes me feel very uncomfortable. The only thing I can recommend about this place is the sushi but with everything else I've experienced we'd...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave just moved from Melb to Clifton Springs and was desperately hoping to find a decent Japanese place and was pleasantly surprised by the food at Hi Sushi. If you can get past the "foodcourt" style decor and hit/miss service, you will appreciate this place just for the food. Have been here twice now, and food is delicious. 1st time - ordered the Chef's Choice sushi plate and it was fresh & tasty, then had a Bento box and the teriyaki beef was delicious - very happy that the meat they used to cook this was tender & lean, not fatty off cuts with gluggy sauce that we've experienced elsewhere all too often. These guys actually seem to care about what they serve up. 2nd time round, I had the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramon, and it was delicious, super tasty broth and the ramen tasted fresh, and hubby had the Bento which was also good. One suggestion would be to include more sushi in the Bento deals as this is the only lacking part. I think that if you're gonna charge $16.80 for a Bento, you should include a box that has sushi, teriyaki beef & harumaki..... after all, a quarter of the box is just plain rice..... food for thought. Anyway Hi Sushi is definitely a thumbs...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had an absolutely terrible experience at Hi Sushi Leopold. I went there for lunch and was greeted by a girl who was cutting sushi and serving. The service was nothing short of terrible, as this girl was incredibly rude and ungenerous. I couldn't believe how poorly I was treated, and it's not the first time this has happened. I've been to Hi Sushi Leopold several times for lunch, and each time, this same girl provides consistently terrible service.
I don't understand why she would choose to work in the food service industry if she has no interest in providing even basic customer service. I felt like I was a burden to her and that my presence was an inconvenience. It was as if she didn't want me there and was doing everything in her power to get me out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.
It's unacceptable for any employee to treat customers in this way, especially in a restaurant where you expect to have a pleasant experience. I will never be returning to Hi Sushi Leopold, and I would advise anyone considering eating there to think twice. If you're looking for good service, you won't...
