Rolling Pin Pies & Cakes — Restaurant in Leopold

WONDERFUL!!! I couldn’t have been at a better place last week when it was freezing cold outside, pouring rain and windy. than inside the warm, brightly lit Rolling-Pin Leopold! With its many displays of the different cakes, biscuits and pastries not to mention a fantastic variety of pies , sausage rolls and other delights. There was a great selection of coffees and all at a reasonable price. With ample parking both front and back and of course our fur babies always welcome, the Rolling Pin is right up there with one of the best bakeries in Victoria if not Australia! Like I said, I couldn’t think of another place I’d rather be on that cold, winters day (or rainy day) than snacking on some fresh pastry delights and a big, frothy cup of cappuccino! The staff are so friendly and you can easily see that they enjoy working there, it really is a great place to meet up with friends or do you just drop in you and your furry friend with ample seating inside and out. Fell for the Australia’s best pie signs, I have had my fare share of chunky steak pies , this was pretty average, far from the best. Bought a lemon tart wanted to share it with my mate, walked up to the counter as I count see any behind the counter and asked the barista making coffee if they have any- she was so rude yelling out I am busy, all I wanted was yes we do have them or don’t, anyways I got someone else to look for them and they said they ran out of cutlery and don’t have any...

Absolutely laughable they claim to have the best pie in the country… for starters it’s a mushroom and truffle pie which sounds absolutely filth but I just got a normal steak cheese and bacon and it was honestly one of the worst pies I’ve had. It was overcooked, pastry hard, far too hot, small and flat, and the bacon pieces on top were so crispy I almost lost a tooth. I actually don’t know why I gave it a two star...
