I had a Vegan Barrito. I know you are trying to make money but it takes a delegate balance between Service with a smile, Fair prices and Good tasting food. The first two I would give you a 7.5. Sadly and disappointingly the food was a dismal Zero.
Here's why, way too much rice. I know rice is cheap and it serves as a good filler to bulk up the food, but really. This much? The proportion of rice was 2/3's rice to 1/3 vegies. It should have been the other way round. Vegies do not cost a lot (compared to Meat) so why not make something worthwhile.
Secondly, there was absolutely NO TASTE. I suggest adding some herbs and spices into the mix starting with something as basic as some garlic. For convenience use the powder. I am sure you should be able to buy this very cheaply and in bulk. This alone will go a long way to adding some flavour to your food. Mind don't go overboard, a little goes a long way.
Lastly the vegies needed to be diced a bit smaller creating more finesse. Now here is the important one.
Make sure the onion is especially cut into comfortable/ manageable pieces. Not say diced. No nothing like that. Just be sure that each piece is no longer than say 4 cm. This will ensure that long pieces are not being pulled out as you take a bite because this is hot food accidents are caused. The long strand of onion becomes a hazard and does weird things like refusing to be part of the intended mouthful or simply losing the plot entirely as it attempts to escape both the mouth and the Barrito landing somewhere totally unintended.
There you have it and to sum up Less rice more "food" More flavour No long pieces of onion.
Hope this helps in making your business the kind of place where people will go that *extra mile" out of their way to return, because you have gone the "extra mile" to offer the whole three most important ingredients of all! 1.Service with a smile 2.Fair prices and 3Good tasting food.
As for me Sorry I don't think I will be returning...
Read moreEdit: gave the burrito bar a second chance and it was far better the second time round. Thank you for taking into consideration my original post.
First time at Burrito Bar and was very disappointed. I booked a table over the phone and the young lady who answered and took my details down had terrible phone mannerism, answering things with “yep” “what’s your name?” “What time?” There was no kindness or eagerness that came across the phone from her. Once we sat down we waited 5/10 minutes for menus until I had to go up and ask for some. We order cocktails and your usual sort of Mexican plates. The cocktails were disappointing! Mojito had no mint in it and was served in a beer class, same with the BB Mule that was order served in a beer glass. The pina colada, the slice of orange served as garnish still had the sticker attached to it and was more like a huge wedge of orange. The large sweet potato fries ordered was honestly a joke, you would call that more a small. The fish tacos were like birds eye fish fillets cut in half...
The only reason I’ve given a two star is because the food still tasted okay. However staff were not friendly or welcoming, one wasn’t dressed appropriately for work. The little touches which could of made the restaurant better, such as appropriate cocktail glasses (especially if you’re charging over $12 for cocktails) appropriate presentation for cocktails, better presentation for food.
Hopefully you can take this as constructive criticism...
