With almost 30 years in the business under his belt, George of the Grill knows how to serve up some pretty top notch fish and chips. No wonder the store made top 5 in the Courier Mail's Best Fish and Chips in Brisbane list for 2019.

We dined at George's invitation and had: Barramundi (crumbed), $9.50 Coral trout (battered), $11.90 Sea scallops, 6 for $13.50 Prawn skewer, 2 for $10.00 Steak fries (small), $4.00 Onion rings, 8 for $5.50

In a word: pretty awesome! (Ok I know that was two words...) Pros: good range of fish to choose from (not just your standard cod/flake), plus there's also a large variety of fresh seafood available in the cabinets plenty of hot sides as well, such as the the scallops and prawn skewers we had - both nicely grilled very crispy and crunchy crumb (on our barramundi) good crunch on the batter too (on the coral trout) nice bit of crunch on the chips also (are you noticing a theme here? 😄), which were well seasoned and quite a generous serve for 'small' the onion rings were some of be best I've had - crunchy on the outside, moist/juicy on the inside.

Cons: Only one for me is that the location is a bit far from my usual hunting grounds. I don't think I've ever been to Cornubia before and it sounded really far when George first got in touch a few months ago, though to be fair it's only about a 5 minute drive from the Logan Hyperdome, which I do get out to every now and then. Maybe I'll make it a family school holiday tradition to visit 😊 . P.S. Totally forgot to order any salad but seeing the quantity of food that came out I'm not sure we would've had room, so will have to try them out next time. Thanks for the hospitality George, you've pointed me to a...

Edit - Well done team! Back to serving great, tasty food. It’s so important to support family owned businesses which is why we kept giving these guys a try after a couple of disappointments. Kudos to the owner for reaching out. Didn’t want to take you up on the replacement as we were happy to wait for you guys to get things back to the high standard, which you have done. Happy customers!

Really good fish and chips. Crumbed snapper, scallops and village fries were divine. Only let down was grilled salmon which was over cooked. Will visit again for sure

Disappointed. We are regular customers. Previous order was not enjoyable. Chips were overcooked, scallops lacked potato and overall flavour was not there. Thought it may be been an off night for them which happens so tried again. Same disappointment again. Fish definitely was not fresh and seafood salad had zero prawns and lacking flavour. Not sure if a change in staff is to blame but we are unwilling to waste our money to try again. Wishing them luck in finding a good team again as they were...

Normally these guys are great. Probably one of the best Fish and Chips in the area. Sadly however, they let me down at a time when I needed them and I wont be back. Ordered and paid for 2 Large Seafood Salads on 18 December for Pickup on Christmas Eve. Come to collect it today on Christmas Eve only to find out they dont have any, nor will they be getting any. The staff were aware of this but at no point was I contacted to let me know I should make alternate arrangements. Even an SMS or Email today to save the trip and make other plans would have been fine albeit disappointing. To their credit, they offered a refund right away but a cash refund isnt going to feed people that are coming around. Overall, their food is good but this was very disappointing and handled poorly and will not return.

Response to the Owner: Unfortunately it was the Owner/George who I spoke with on the day so to be told this is the first time hearing this, is untrue. That said, I appreciate that you have recognised there was an error, but it didn't change the...

The Greek salads looked good. And it’s chips are tasty. But the fish did not taste like the one that I’d picked from the glass cabinet. It was supposed to have firmer darker meat, battered or crumped. My companions made the same comment too. The fish fell apart after cutting. Apparently, the fresh fish in the cold cabinet is meant for takeaway raw only, and pay by price/kg. Which leaves me to question if the fish that i had ordered may not be the specific fish that I’d selected fr the cold cabinet? It was not weighed out but a flat rate was charged to me. The texture of the fish was like that of a frozen crumped/battered fish, prepared earlier. There was no sign explaining, the above, that there’s no need to select your fish ($43/kg) fr the cabinet to be cooked. $25 flat for Fish &chips. Disappointed ☹️. 1st time here.

Absolutely amazing experience at George’s Grill! The fish and chips were out of this world — crispy, golden batter with perfectly tender fish inside. The Greek salad was incredibly fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor, with the perfect balance of tangy feta and crisp veggies. The portions were generous and everything tasted homemade and authentic. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, perfect for a cozy and delicious meal. We left with happy hearts and full bellies. Highly recommend George’s Grill — a definite 5-star gem!
