I probably will get hunted down for posting this but I’m sharing my genuine reviews. I’m Australian born, tanned & dark haired and everytime I go out somewhere I get treated poorly just by my looks. If people judge you on your looks or think you look Indian or middle eastern or something and you’re just so sick of it. Don’t go here!
I didn’t feel welcomed by the community in this cafe. I got stared a lot walking & sitting with my caucasian, blonde haired partner. The food wasn’t that great. We both ordered pancakes, one ordinary and the other with strawberries but our foods came in separately and our medium size coffees called “mugs” came in before my strawberry pancakes arrived. The presentation is good but expensive. Our pancakes (pikelets size) was $18.50 and tasted like the pikelets you get from Woolworths. However their coffees were good but bit expensive I think and the menu I saw on here wasn’t the same prices I ordered there. I don’t think I’ll be going here again. I felt quite uncomfortable & unwelcomed by the Islamic community.
UPDATE: I revisited this week, wearing a black long skirt with white flowers and a white top. There were men sitting outside the shop gawking straight at me and whispering with each other as I walk pass them. I went inside the store quickly because they made me feel uncomfortably by checking me out. A blonde lady asked what I wanted in a rude tone. I asked if Riaz was there, the blonde asked why I wanted to see Riaz and then told me he wasn’t there. So I asked for a coffee since I was there and blonde lady just stands there rolling her eyes at me while I was looking around what I could order. They had no menus behind their counter so I had to guess what I wanted. Heaps of customers came in after me and ordered. The blonde lady seemed nicer to them, including a lady in her pajamas. 30 minutes went in and the people who ordered their coffee after me got their first. So I went up and asked the blonde lady where’s my coffee in a nice tone of course and she said we already called out to you which is the strangest and the biggest lie I heard from her because I was already inside sitting and waiting and the Asian lady asked what did I order in a nicer tone and then she became confused and looked around for the order note and said I’ll make it now. After I left, walking past the men sitting outside spoke quietly in Arabic saying “look at her, ay”.
I didn’t intend to be centre of attention or intimidate anyone that day or any other day. I simply walked in to speak to Riaz and have your delicious coffees but it seems like ‘if you dress unordinary or intimidating, you will cop their rude service’ from this cafe. Perhaps you should have called your cafe, the...
Read moreI'm gonna start off with I usually LOVE this place. And this is a review for an uber order, not for dine in. Dine in is usually always good.
I ordered a couple things off uber because I know that by the time I'll get them, food will still be warm (I know because I've brought take away from here before multiple times). But man oh man was my order this morning so disappointing that it's prompted this review. My usual breakfast gnocchi was unseasoned and mushy (they did put the chilli flakes on top like the note which I was grateful for, but it was like the chef just thought no salt today). Extra sujuck I added on was fine, and was the nice salty kick (I did have to add more salt to the gnocchi mush once the sujuck was finished though). The sunny side egg was also salt-free. The kale chips were nice but soggy (expected since it was in a closed container), but definitely the yummiest thing I had today besides the sujuck).
Secondly I ordered a 120g rib eye steak, hash brown and halloumi as add ons. Now when I've ordered the add on steak in restaurant, it's usually an actual piece of steak, small but an actually juicy piece of steak, but what I got today was a minute steak, so cold that the fat was already congealed, and again totally unseasoned - no salt or pepper. And I mean for $12 a steak it was not worth it - was it even 120g; highly questionable. Next disappointment, the hash brown was soggy and undercooked (like literally the inside bits of some of the potato were hard) - and surprise surprise, no salt again. The halloumi while cold, was totally fine.
If you are going to give a minute steak then call it a minute steak on the menu, not a rib eye steak. And I don't understand how gnocchi covered in pesto was so dull (I've literally had this dish like 5 times before and it was always a winner). There was also no colour on the gnocchi, usually it has some crispy golden brown edges, and there was none of that today.
And best for last, the iced coffee, was delicious as always (these guys know their coffee), and it is the only reason this meal review did not get a one star. Brunch ruined, will try to salvage what I can.
Was it all edible, yes (hashbrown is questionable). Would I order it again on uber? No. I live literally 25mins away. I've ordered food from further away that's still reaches me warm. IVE brought steak take away from here and steak was still warm. So not sure what happened. So disappointed. Bye bye...
Read moreHad an unpleasant brunch experience on last Sunday. Entrance was cramped. There was no sign to tell customers where to wait to be served. Takeaway also use the same area to queue. Everyone had to move out of the way to let wait staffs go in and out. We were ignored until we had to grab someone to ask for a table. After we got seated with nothing on the table we then had to grab another staff to ask for menu. Was told lunch menu starts at 11am. Placed order and then got told lunch starts at 11.30am. There was no sign or note on the menu that indicates the time that you can order lunch. Fine, we decided to wait (40 minutes), hopefully it was worth it. Ice mocha came out in a tumbler glass?! With ice cream and whipped cream i ordered extra and it only came up to the brim. So a normal ice mocha is about 3/4 of a tumbler? Seriously? Asked for tap water, brought out 2 dirty glasses. 1 with lipstick and another with food scraps that already bone dried. We tried to scrape it off with my nail but didnt come off, had to bring them in to exchange with another 2 glasses with hard water stains but we can live with that. Pls note i was also standing in front of the cafe bench holding 2 glasses but nobody decided to ask anything until i grab someone. Food came out. Egg benny was good, quite tasty but the pasta that we waited for 40 minutes was very disappointing. Overcooked noodle and no flavour. Could only finish half the plate. Overall experience was bad. I knew the cafe was busy but you cant make yourself fully occupied with something and neglect other customers. Male staff worked like he didnt even want...
