Friday pizza and movie night with the kids - we have ordered pizzas from here several times recently and were very happy and thought we would try some of the beef spaghetti bolognese tonight.
It's been rather cold and raining tonight so we were pretty hungry and keen for a tasty meal but when I got home with the food the pizza and garlic bread was great as usual but the supposed beef bolognese was nothing more than two bowls of overcooked linguine with tomato sugo and large pieces of undercooked bacon and cheese on top that looked and tasted nothing like the delicious house made beef bolognese we were hoping for. Very disappointing - it really ruined what was supposed to be a nice Friday night family meal.
I will admit I am a lover of Italian food - I cook a pretty mean Italian style spaghetti bolognese myself and have also worked in several pizza shops over the years so I suppose I'm a bit fussy when it comes to finding a pizza shop that meets my standards and these guys definitely do that ! - I just wish they also had a chef in the kitchen who knows how to make a half decent pasta dish 😕 😮💨
Still better than Vinnys though I suppose - at least this wasn't canned spaghetti with canned beef bolognese sauce and cheese on top out of the...
Read moreEver had pear on a pizza? I hadn’t... until we tried the pulled pork and slaw pizza from Crust, and it was a perfect pairing!
That was easily my favourite flavour of the selection - the rest were pretty good too, but the pork and pear was a clear winner - so full of flavour and a good mix of textures too.
We had: pulled pork and slaw, $23 - twice cooked shredded pork & caramelised onions on a BBQ base topped with fresh pear, Vietnamese slaw & garlic aioli Hawaiian, $13.80 - ham and pineapple on tomato base classic Margherita, $13.80 - mozzarella & oregano on tomato base Mediterranean lamb, $21 - house cooked lamb roasted in Mediterranean spices, tomatoes, green capsicum, Spanish onions, feta & oregano on a garlic infused base, garnished with mint yoghurt & lemon wedge garlic bread, $6 - 9 inch loaf with herb & garlic butter
All pizzas are topped with 100% Australian mozzarella cheese. Would have preferred the pizzas a bit fresher but the Ubereats delivery came half an hour later than booked. Still...
Read moreI thought we had just picked up from Dominos 😮. Not only have they resized all their pizzas, but what used to be a large 13” is now classed as an extra large and will cost you an extra $3 per pizza ? We didn’t know they had made these changes, so it was disappointing having spent $49 on three large pizzas and a really basic garlic bread , to then discover they were 11” at best and no longer represent good value! They were also very thin and lacking any ingredients. It is quite evident this franchise has adapted similar business practices as Dominos to stay profitable and also compete for customers . But If you are going to buy an 11” pizza, then go to Dominos !
Dominos pizzas taste better , and are loaded with ingredients by comparison . you’ll also only be spending $34.95 for the same deal - 3 large pizzas & a garlic bread, and it is also delivered for FREE . That’s a staggering saving of $19.05c against Crust’s offer as there’s an additional $5 fee if you want a delivery and aren’t spending...
