We stopped by for a break on our way down the coast. We have stopped elsewhere in the past but in future we will stop at Maclean. Much better than one of the big road houses and not as crowded as other locations. This cafe had a table outside, good food, good coffee and good, friendly, service. Just perfect for a break and a quick snack on your way north, or south.

Good food and relaxed, unpretentious environment, with kind service and reasonable prices. On the downside, not suitable for families with kids as the menu is very limited. At 1pm on a Friday they had run out of ham and couldn't cook fried eggs for the kids (because it was only on the breakfast menu). Would still recommend for a casual meal, but not for families.

Came back after 10yrs away and pork belly still on the menu thank god! Absolutely delicious 😋. Started coming 15ys ago when first open and the seamless systems and procedures and quality of service and food was always great but now it’s next level amazing. Congratulations on a fabulous long lazing business through the highs and lows of the economy. 👏 🙌🏼 🥳

After a 40-odd kilometre cycle circumnavigation of Woodford Island, plus a 20 or so kilometre exploration of the wooded interior (beautiful trees, somewhat sketchy tracks), during which we got drenched and frozen, it was definitely café time. Destination: Maclean. Objective: food and hot beverages. Despite the wonderful distraction of tartan-clad lamp posts, little time was wasted in finding a parking spot and across the road...On The Bite. If it looks good, smells good and the service is good, it's probably, well, yes, good. And it was. Good, that is. Conny had Moroccan Chicken soup (one of the specials of the day) and a chamomile tea; I had an Asian style pork belly dish with jasmine rice and a salad topped with peanuts and a soy chai. More than my usual peanut butter sandwich, I know, but when one's burned a fair few calories, one's entitled to a treat, especially on holiday. (The chatter from the next table was quite entertaining too, though that can't always be guaranteed, of course...) And what better place than On The Bite? Thanks guys—very yummy indeed. Now for another...

I don't know why this place is so highly rated. Must be due to lack of competition. The service was horrendous, the blonde waitress was openly rude with an angry face, ignored what we asked and just looked overall as she hated her job and every customer.

The food was average, definitely not fresh. The choices are very limited with only one vegetarian and zero vegan options. If you want something other than a sandwich with Turkish bread (the one you can buy from Woolworths) for your lunch and prefer hospitable polite service then you definitely should avoid On The Bite.

Oh yeah, and on top of that, customers were snatching chairs and tables as soon as you would stand up, for instance, to get a fork, since your "friendly" waitress refused to give you one.

Seriously stressful place with a bad vibe, rude waitress and old...

This cafe is a real gem! We were on our way to Sydney & looking for a cafe for lunch not too far off the highway. We went into McLean & enjoyed the most fantastic lunch & really good coffee @ On The Bite. We had our dog & he was really welcomed- even bringing him fresh water! People walking by stopped & talked to us & our dog- such a friendly town. Thank you to the super friendly & welcoming staff for a great experience!...
