I have on the odd occasion purchased food and/or coffee and tea from here over the years if there was nowhere else open. The tea selection is poor and the coffee is very weak. I have always found the staff very aloof and unfriendly. Recently, yet again, a woman served a man standing behind me whilst I was waiting, at least the man acknowledged that I was obviously in line before him. Two married men that I know have said to me that the same woman working there, sometimes with red or pink hair, has not charged them for their coffees and they get them for free, perhaps this young woman is the owner/manager and gives free coffee away to men. When I last said something about men standing in the line behind me, being served before me, a woman with bleached blonde hair and tattoos started yelling at me when I was walking down the arcade, then again later when I was walking along the footpath accross the road. I definitely will not be wasting anymore money at this place. Sometimes I enjoyed the food from this cafe, though, never again, there are far more better mannered cafes in Maclean, with beautiful...
Read moreStopped in Maclean to check out the town for the first time and have lunch. Chose the River Cafe from the reviews and I must say,it was a great experience. We ordered a BLT to share with an egg on it, when it came out it was massive and cut in half and an egg on both halves. I had basically finished my half ( it was the best BLT I have had) and I knocked my plate of the table and it smashed, the girls jumped into action to make sure I hadn't cut myself and clean up. I said to them luckily I was finished bar some bread and a bit of bacon and tomato. To my amazement they brought me out a whole brand new one, I nearly died, they would not accept payment and basically begged me to eat it. I complied and ate the good stuff but couldn't do more bread. Hopefully they found the tip under the plate. We...
Read moreStopped for a coffee in Maclean as we were travelling and so glad we found the River Cafe.
We stopped at another cafe first but was unable to drink their coffee due to the bitterness and temperature 😢
As we were driving out spotted the River Cafe and the coffee was awesome. We also couldn't resist their cakes and sweets and ultimately settled on a raspberry and ?? "CRUFFIN" 🤣🤣
Sounds funny but was so good...would be keen to see if they do them in other flavours.
It was also a breath of fresh air to see the staff attempting to take a genuine interest in each customer and making them feel genuinely welcome
Will definitely go past again when we are back in...
