Don't go on the weekend. The staff are inept. They forget food orders, table numbers, and let kids run amok around the pool table.
No sensible service of alcohol here.
Kids accompany parents to the bar and carry back drinks. Late diners have to clean their own tables. The menu is so overpriced a schnitty and chips and gravy will set you back nearly $30. And you get about 8 chips, no salad dressing and a tiny piece of chicken with sinew running through it. And you only get it if they can find your table after it has been around the whole dining room and bar area. It's stone cold.
But they don't offer a new, FRESH meal as a replacement. No, it goes in the microwave because the Chef is in a foul mood.
And parents don't supervise their kids. They take them to the pool table to make as much noise as they like banging around the pool balls. And they leave them there, unsupervised.
If this is your idea of a great day out by all means go. We are locals we know the better food is at the Palmer Pub, 16 klms and five minutes down the road. Service with a smile, great bar staff who remember your orders and a menu that changes often. And very reasonably priced.
And the Mannum Community Club needs a face lift, a new air conditioning unit and some fly spray.
Vote with your feet. We try and support the local businesses but can only support the local product if it's deserved.
The pics. 1-2 are of the Mannum Community Club,
Chicken Schnitty with soggy salad.
Cold linguine with prawns and crabmeat.
In comparison, pics 3 and 4 show a beautiful Thai salad at the Bridgeport, Murray Bridge with grilled chicken that will set you back about $24.
And a deliciously FRESH, linguine with prawns and a sauce to die for. Not out...
Read moreI celebrated my Birthday at this club with our regular car club with around 40 people for a pre-booked lunch today. I was deeply disappointed with the staff member that looks after the gaming room during lunch. I was not playing the pokies. As all my friends were inside for lunch I was sitting in the outdoor area with my little lap dog. We had ordered/paid for our food and drinks and the lady came to me informing me to leave the premises as I had a dog. She threaten me if I didn't leave she would ring the police in an angry tone. I said I would not feel like ever returning here and she replied "I don't care!" I was angered by her aggressive attitude and lack of understanding even if it was a regulation. I asked her to cancel my meal and get my money back and she replied that she would not do that. All I had was a glass of water. After we all left it was noticed that there was a polite sign on the balcony of a nearby hotel and offered patrons to tie dogs up nearby within eyeshot vs the MCC which had NO signage to be seen and no options to advise other than a rude threat. I was sitting in the car with my dog for an hour and it was 39 degrees outside. The 'how' matters as much as the 'what' when it comes to service. I informed the organiser of the gathering and requested never book a gathering here again, and he agreed. Unfortunately a grumpy staff member can make ones birthday unpleasant. If this was my pub she would get kicked out of there, where was the customer service!!!!!!! By the way my friends told me that I wasn't missing out on any thing as the food was not crash hot either. Sorry Mannum Community Club you lost me for good - and we will tell...
Read moreNice view, nice setting but overall i expected more. The service was extremely slow. There was no signage for where to wait to be seated so we walked to the dining room only to wait in a line of people ordering their food for 10+ minutes. Luckily, the food wasn’t a huge wait. I got the roast of the day and asked if it came with crackling, they said yes if we have any left. Not a problem. My roast pork then came out with no crackling, again fine, if it wasn’t for other roasts coming out around me WITH crackling. The meat was tough and only a dribble of gravy on it (i asked for more) and it was bought straight out which was great. My partner got a chicken schnitzel with Italian topping ($28). Expecting a fairly decent serving size we were unpleasantly surprised when it came out the size it was (smaller than usual). Although he said it was thick and juicy which is good and he enjoyed the Italian topping. Overall staff are lovely, yes, service was slow but they were very busy. Food is fairly expensive for what you get but it tasted okay...
