Ada Grace — Restaurant in Melbourne

Heads up this is an elaborate review, but we hope its useful or insightful.

We originally chose to have breakfast at Chez Dré from some article or search. Arrived there and ordered a coffee and read the menu.

Prices - needlessly high. Most recent reviews - paltry Photos of the food (insta & google) - unbelievably lacklustre. Service - slow.

So, after our lukewarm coffees arrived, we decided to check out “Ada Grace”. 2 min walk away, glowing reviews.

What can I say…they delivered.

Prices - Fair, reasonable, honestly GOOD. Service - Phenomenal. Warm, welcoming, inviting. Food - On point. This is exactly what we were looking for and more. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY. We had 0 complaints and could not finish it all.

Diverse menu options, good specials, the kindest staff member (or owner, no idea- this was today) who showed he cared so much.

Regulars for life now. Thank you guys.

Horrible experience today. I was shocked as the owner seemed lovely and we were chatting for a while about allergies and how I have quite a few and she said her baby and husband has allergies too and as the menu said tomato on avocado toast - so I asked for no tomato. I was surprised after all the talk about allergies and how serious they can be that it came out with sauce drizzled everywhere and this was not stated on the menu! They got me another meal without sauce and all was going well until I got onto my second piece of toast and there was a black hair in my food . I was grossed out by this and when I brought it up to explain I got a mumbled sorry from a male worker and even the owner said a very quick sorry and yes they did take it off the bill but the lack of accountability and customer service was poor . ・Matcha latte has a very gentle taste. Even so, it's good because you can feel the taste of matcha firmly.

・Big breakfast is scrambled eggs on top of sourdough (the default is fried eggs, so I asked for a change), bacon, choriso, sauteed cherry tomatoes (red, yellow), spinach and mushrooms Sautéed, homemade croquettes and tomato flavour.

・Homemade croquettes are quite normal on their own, but when combined with tomato relish, the level of taste increases by about 3.

・Flowers and leaves are crowded on the ceiling, and I can't help but want to order herbal tea ww.

Overall, it was small and located on a side road, so it was quite quiet and I was able to immerse myself in a meal.
