One of the beautiful things I love about Melbourne is its diversity. And when it comes to food that is especially do. This morning I needed to sit down and eat rather than 'on the go' and came to Axil Coffee Roasters which was buzzing with customers and barristas keeping up with the orders. I chose a skinny latte and a chicken & cheese jaffle, made with poached free range chicken caramelised leek and Victorian cheddar. Perfect. Taste was light and wonderful with generous amount of all ingredients. A few others were choosing to dine in as well. My table ticket was a large wooden letter 'M'. Water was quickly put on the table and I sat and admired the wall mural - quite mesmerising. As I was leaving I noticed the large array of pastries and sweet treats which come from Penny for Pound (big tick). Look forward to returning in the warmer months and dining outdoors in the undercover space of Southern Cross Lane. Staff were lovely and friendly. Considering how busy they were, it was nice they were cheerful during the morning rush. Notes: wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Dietaries catered for. Easy to find. Products such as coffee and other ancillary items also available for sale on the right hand side of the store as you walk in.

I often pick up freshly ground coffee for our Areopress at home. Always friendly staff and clean premises. The warps are my favourite.giggly toasted to get the cheese melting is perfect for a fulfilling lunch meal. Paired with a hot beverage and you have the perfect lunch date, when dining alone. It offers ample seating and there is also the lounge lobby around the side if you need something a little more private or generalist ins seating if you’re ordering take away. The packaging has changed on the beans, however, as assured by staff, it has not altered the flavour at all. Recommend stopping by and taking a seat and enjoying a hot beverage or simple light meal. Banquette seating and loose furniture. There is also a communal high table. I didn’t take any photos but will add, there were too many people enjoying themselves and I didn’t want to be taking too many snaps without their permission. Everyone a clean, friendly and harmonious environment for breakfast or lunch. Or the acoustics can be a little loud when busy due to all the hard surfaces.

Awesome Axil Coffee has arrived in the city CBD with their full food/ cafe offering. Located on the ground floor of an office building, the cafe can be accessed from the street or via the building lobby atrium. BTW there’s a separate Axil coffee stand by the entrance of the lobby if you’re passing by and just want to grab a coffee on the go. Food menu is identical to their Hawthorn Cafe. And the food is just as good - beautifully presented and delicious! Coffee is absolutely perfect too, just what you’d expect from Axil. Service is wonderful, so friendly and so welcoming. Great addition to this “quieter” side of the city CBD.

First of all, I could not put bad review because I love Axil beans. But what happened at this store, today, made me upset. Cashier was doing something else like counting coins and doing some boxes thingy and also talk to me at the same time while took order and that made me uncomfortable and being looked down and he didn’t say anything else just “yes? Okay (my coffee order) it’s 5.2$”, I felt like he didn’t appreciate/respect me. I’m not sure if the managers allow that or maybe he is the manager, but I personally as a customer don’t like that kind of service (in takeaway coffee area). He didn’t say much, he just need the information from me to put into the system as he was the one who was taking customers’ order. I never got this kind of service...
