This is not a complaint regarding the food, but utterly disappointed for customer service by the staff. I am a regular customer of Dosa Hut, King Street and have never experienced such kind of behaviour. Me and my friends were having dinner at this place and we raised our concern with the order to the staff member who was serving us the food.
He forgot the first time, and when we called him and told again, he started arguing and told us meet him after the restaurant closes that too in an impolite and threatening way. It was highly inappropriate and we were surprised to hear this. Absolutly no customer etiquettes.
After that, when we went to pay the bill and spoke to him about it, he said he don't have time for it. This annoyed us more, so we asked for the store manager's number as he was not present at that time. Neither he provided store manager's number nor any email to report this rude behaviour and also started mocking us in front of other customers. After we being persistent in order to talk to someone, instead of the store manager, they gave us some number which seemed to his friend's number who claimed to be the store manager (didn't seem like he was the real store manager).
When asked him to give us the store email id and his name on the bill this guy crumbled the bill and threw it in front of us while the rest of the customers were watching. This was very disgusting, shameful and very disrespectful.
He is a tall skinny guy who refused to tell his real name but claimed it to be "Shay". This incident occurred at around 8:00-8:10 pm on Thursday 05/08/2021. If the store has a CCTV, I'd request the store manager to please look into the footage to look into this matter.
I don't wish this to have an impact on someone's job as I understand it could be difficult, but you should have some respect for your customer. I don't want anyone else to have such an experience, hence writing this big review and not to waste my time.
Even though the food was fine, I don't think I'll be visiting this place again. Along with all this, bill was charged wrong thrice!!! Every time we had to let them know the issues they were making...
Read moreDosa Hut, where the promise of variety and flavor dances in your mind like an illusion, only to be confronted by the stark reality of quantity and price that barely rise to the occasion. The menu proudly boasts a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dosas, as if offering the entire Indian subcontinent on a plate. There’s also the Indo-Chinese section, because, of course, combining the culinary cultures of two continents in one bite is nothing short of genius (note the sarcasm).
Let’s talk about the taste, shall we? It’s good, and by “good,” I mean it’s on par with what you’d expect from a place trying to check the box for “authenticity” without actually understanding the depth of the dish. It's decent, but don't get too carried away and assume you’ve just experienced the culinary equivalent of a spiritual awakening. It’s the kind of good that makes you say, “Sure, I’ll eat it again,” but not “I’m bringing all my friends here for a feast.”
Now, onto the real issue: quantity. Or rather, the complete lack of it. You’ll receive a portion smaller than the hopes and dreams of someone who’s just been told that the last dosa was reserved for someone else. It's as if they’ve mistaken your order for a sample size at a tasting event. That tiny serving is paired with a price that’s so inflated, it should have its own celebrity status. I’ve seen small bites of small portions cost less at upscale restaurants, and here, you’re left with nothing but a plate that mocks you with its pathetic size, as though the chef was trying to skimp on ingredients just to make a point about minimalism.
So yes, you get flavor, but you also get the sting of price gouging and the emptiness of being served a meal that’s more about pretension than satisfaction. If you’re someone who enjoys paying premium prices for a meal that leaves you hungry enough to consider ordering a second one, then Dosa Hut is your place. For the rest of us, well, we’ll be waiting for the day they realize that quantity and value are just as important as taste. Until then, I’ll just sigh and...
