Barr'd Tapas Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

We picked Barr’d last minute and weren’t too sure what to expect—but we’re so glad we gave it a go! The entire experience completely exceeded our expectations.

From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. Our waitress was exceptional—attentive, friendly, and had a great sense of humour. She made us feel completely at ease and even shared a few laughs with us throughout the night.

The cocktails were a definite highlight, especially the Barr’d Mule—full of flavour, and perfectly balanced. The drinks menu had plenty of variety and was clearly crafted with care.

We also ordered the chilli and garlic creamy prawns, which were rich and full of flavour, and the eggplant and flash-fried chickpea salad, which was fresh, vibrant, and a great balance to the prawns. Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented.

To top it all off, the owner was incredibly generous. Id had my eye on a unique bar piece all night, after asking how much it would cost for me to take it home (not for a second did I think he would part with it!) he kindly offered it to me, even though it was clearly something he valued. Such a rare and thoughtful gesture that really speaks to the heart of the place.

I have been going to Barr'd for years now. It is a wonderful venue in the hub of East Ivanhoe and renowned for years of delivering wonderful service, alcohol and tapas food with music and sports - depending on the day and date. The ambience, service, food and selection of beverages just get better with time. Ari (the owner) is a true professional and passionate about the overall experience he provides to all his patrons - be it locals or those that come from afar based on referrals. I have booked out Barr'd on several occasions for special celebrations and my needs, every time, have been exceeded. I enjoy going up for a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night cocktail or two; or a Sunday afternoon meal or a midweek coffee and churros. It is a multi-purpose venue and conducive to a get together with friends or family. The staff are always friendly, attentive and very obliging. The decor is impressive and Ari is always at the forefront of improvements/upgrades to enrich patron's experiences and achieve best outcomes for his customers. Hidden away in Ivanhoe village is a great little Tapas Bar, serving fabulous food and drink. Found on an internet search we decided to give it a go and were pleasantly impressed!

Our party of five ordered the sharing board of dips, bread, cheese and olives with a side serve of potato bravas. Board was ample and the potatos were nice. Our mains were hamburgers, pork belly tacos and fried chicken. Burgers were the star of the evening, each serving was good size and the meat Patties were well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The pork belly tacos were nice even though the pork was a little dry and chewy. The fried chicken was delicious but didn’t come with any other side or condiment. The serving size for its price was a little underwhelming. We ordered an extra bowl of fries to supplement. Our table also ordered a carafe of sangria which was delicious and refreshing.
