One of the worst booking experiences of my life. I booked for 10 people for a Saturday for my mums 60th bday. It was confirmed over the phone and the staff member asked me to confirm by Thursday if I want to cancel. Fair enough, I suggested you have my word that I will be there. He calls me on Thursday and asking for confirmation for a Friday. It definitely some sort of miscommunication fair enough. Letās handle it the most appropriate way and see if it can be fixed. But he had the audacity to state that I was at fault and Customer is always wrong in his opinion, when it comes to bookings!! If he had not been rude I would have accepted the Friday booking. But the fact he stated customers are wrong and would not let me talk to the direct manager as he thinks Iām insulting him, shows very poor level of customer service and people relation skills. Later he lied to me and said he is the manager and say what ever you want and Iām not listening to you. The fact he doesnāt understand good customer service I would never eat this restaurant ever!! It was definitely disrespectful to my extended family and friends who were actually next to me when I Made the booking, so I was reassured that I was not at fault. When I went to pay the bill (for our large group), the front desk person tried to charge me for food we did not order. When I explained that we didnāt order the items (which didnāt even cost that much especially given our large total) she quickly became rude and aggressive, and even threatened to call the police if I did not pay for the extra food too.
To avoid further embarrassment, and because it was a small amount, I paid and left. She might have scammed a small amount of money out of me, but she forever lost me, and all my friends and all of family when I told them what happened, as customers.
Although this happened quite a while ago, the occassion is vivid in my mind and I am still to this day so angered when I recall it that wanted to finally add a review to warn others about my terrible experience at Bombay by Night, 355 North Rd, Caulfield South.
This place is now a long-running jibe amoung my friends, who occassionally smile and say to me "Let's go to Bombay by Night!", knowing it will immediately bring back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOut of all restaurants which are on my visit list, Bombay by night was in the top 10 but my visit today (26/07/14) has put the restaurant on top of the list of restaurants which i would hate to visit.
My partner and I made a quick call to the restaurant to make a booking and to our surprise we got it (as all good restaurants are generally overbooked and not able to cater to last minute bookings).
Firstly we were wondering why the staff was encouraging us to order entrees. Upon our decision to stick to only main course, we were told that the mains would take 30mins to which we agreed. Much to our surprise, our mains were delayed by more than an hour just because we declined to order any entree.
To make matters worse, the service was poor as we kept waiting for someone to rock up on our table to ask if we needed something else, but no one did and we were forced to get up and pay at the counter.
As the above wasn't enough damage, the old female at the counter was very rude and unfortunately did not know anything about customer service.
