Disclaimer: I rated this cafe shop merely based on the bad service here, I didnât get to taste their food.
I went for a breaky with my partner on this Friday morning 17/03 and the shop was relatively busy. We sat on a table outside. My partner having a pesto chicken sandwich on the display, while I wanted to have a granola bowl (in a round plastic container) on their display as well. However, the waitress served us saying that the granola was for takeaway. I said I didnât mind to just have it as it was, doesnât need to put it in a ceramic bowl. She said no, I was not allowed to have it sitting in, no further explanation. Honestly, I wasnât really happy at that moment because âwhy?????â, but anyway still want to have the granola, so I told her, iâd have it takeaway, and again she kept saying that I couldnât eat it in the cafe shop, and only let it go when I said I would have it at home. Now, after sitting awhile waiting for my partnerâs pesto chicken sandwich was heating up, I decided not to get the granola anymore because it make no sense for me, as a customer, and as someone who had worked in the hospitality industry for sometimes, why I couldnât have that granola bowl sitting in. I wasnât being unreasonable, I think. So when the waitress brought out the sandwich for my partner (to have it at the table) along with the âtakeaway granolaâ, I told her âI donât really want this granola anymore, can I return it ,please? Sorry for that!!â. I was expecting a response somewhat like âthatâs fineâ, âdonât worry about thatâ or something similar, but I got nothing from the waitress. She just silently grabbed the bowl with a very annoyed attitude. I sat there, wait for my partner to finish his meal. We paid and went home, I made myself a granola bowl and it...
Read moreI really wanted to enjoy Mr Brightside cafe, the reviews were good, the cafe looked great and all the pictures of the food looked fantastic.
The experience we had was pleasant, the staff were fantastic, they were accommodating with our pram and they served and topped up sparking water.
The coffees were fantastic, a nice dark roast. My partner had the almond flat white and I had a long macchiato - they were delicious.
Our food though was a little bit disappointing, I had the soft tortillas with fried chicken and slaw. The chicken was overcooked, dry and under seasoned. And my partner had the eggs Benedict and the spinach was a little soggy and the hollandaise sauce wasn't the greatest.
I don't want to turn anyone away, perhaps try something different on the menu. We will be back at some stage to try...
Read moreThe worst fritters we've ever tried.
First, they put a very thin layer of beetroot humus on the plate and I know it looks pretty but at least you gotta let me taste it and we couldn't taste nothing because it's just too little bit. Second, there were two fritters, only two fritters on a $19 plate. Those two fritters were about a kid's palms sized so that's pretty small. They were complimented by three small pieces of cauliflowers and a poached egg.
Finally, I can't believe if they saw the dish before they sent away because the fritters are obviously burnt. Also the inside wasn't great neither, it was runny, oily and salty.
Hope it was just our dish and it was because they had a busy time before we went there so other people wouldn't have to experience what we did...
