You only had two things to get right. Shakes, and chips...
The shakes were made using cheap milk, and rather ordinary ice-cream. There's nothing rich, creamy or outstanding about them at all. You could make better ones yourself at home. Apparently the majority of sauces are house made, and if so they need to do some serious work on improving these.
All the blurb I saw pre-opening indicated the chips would come in cones. They didn't. The standard bucket is their preferred method of chip distribution it seems.
Apart from the Chilli Cheese loaded fries, there was nothing special about the chips. Just your bog standard frozen chips heated in oil. The Gravy and Cheese loaded fries had very little gravy, and even that was thin and weak. Sweet potato fries - nothing outstanding about these at all.
The one thing they did right was the Chilli Cheese loaded fries. These were good and worth the price. A meal or two in itself!
If you still want to go and try them out, get your order to go.
Sit inside in the "cosy booths" and you're going to get a sore back from the unpadded box iron that separates the booths; and you're fighting to have a conversation over the sounds of the blenders not that far away from you. Sit outside in the courtyard, and you're fighting to have a conversation over the music they're piping back there. You can only sit around the outside of the courtyard as well, and there's a big empty space left in the middle. Further, there's no protection from the elements.
I don't know if this was all due to the place just being opened, or this is truly how the owners want their shop to be. To me there is so much room for improvement, and I hope things do improve as the concept is a...
Read moreBOY & Co. Is a great place for some comfort tasting food and deliciously sweet milkshakes. (The cookie dough in the take away fridge is to die for btw)
Some think of the food as plain or simple tasting, but I think the familiar 'homecook' taste is exactly what makes it so comforting.
They by far, have the biggest list of milkshakes I've ever seen and include funny names for some flavours e.g. Heisenberg (Blue heaven).
I was quickly greeted by a really nice male worker, who despite working on his own continued to deliver quick and friendly service, while still smashing out online and walk in orders. Seriously a hard working and great guy.
The place is full of popping colour and fun signage. My only feedback is that the place needs a little more love and care in the upkeep. It still had QR Codes up from old check in times; some surfaces could do with a deeper clean and the outside bins should either be switched to bigger ones or changed more regularly.
This place has so much potential to polish itself up and really make a name. I can't wait to come back later in time and see how it's grown (And try more...
Read moreMixed review here. Eating in is great! The milkshakes are awesome and the chips are always fresh, crispy and tasty.
However when getting delivery it is sooooo dissapoonting with the chips. We had massive issues with our uber deliverer, which is not the fault of the company but the chips were cold. Not cold and still tasted good, they has basically no seasoning and were like cardboard. I have had the salt and vinegar before and they were covered in flavour, these basically tasted like they were salted with a pinch of salt. And again ended up being worse then old McDonalds chips. So yay to the milkshakes but nay to the chips for delivery. And dont use the uber delivery method as he also delivered after closing so couldn't even get the chips...
