Review 2022: This place is under new management and is not the same as it used to be. Service a bit disjointed and not as friendly or welcoming as it used to be. The "Fresh juice" is comprised of a 2L Golden Circle fruit drink that you buy for $2 at Coles yet here they charge $4.50 a glass - so much for "fresh". The beef salad is one of the best I've tasted however so there is still quality in the food. Service relatively quick too. The music they have playing is some Thai pop and it's terrible. I'm not sure if they're trying to entice western customers, but the music is enough to deter people from dining in.
Review 1/02/2025: After a hiatus of around three years, we decided to revisit Nakorn Thai and were not disappointed. The ambiance has seen some improvements, with the music now turned down low, allowing for easy conversation.
Starters: We started with prawn spring rolls, vegetarian curry puffs, and satay chicken skewers. All were flavorful and well-prepared, providing a delightful start to our meal.
The mains then followed immediately, with the entrees not even finished (which was too quick).
Mains: For the main course, we opted for the special of pork belly with broccoli, steamed barramundi, and chicken Pad KraPao. Each dish was delicious and satisfying, maintaining the restaurant's reputation for good Thai cuisine. We also ordered a tofu salad, but after it didn't arrive with the other mains, we canceled it around 10 minutes later.
Service: The service was acceptable but lacked any standout moments. There was a minor hiccup when one of the waitresses attempted to clear a plate while someone was still eating, which was not ideal. Additionally, the air conditioning was quite high, making the dining area rather cold.
Overall Experience: Despite these minor issues, Nakorn Thai still managed to deliver a pleasant dining experience. The cost for four adults, with BYO wine, was $160, which we found to be reasonably priced. We look forward to returning in the future to explore more dishes from their menu.
Final Thoughts: Nakorn Thai continues to offer tasty Thai dishes in a cozy setting, making it a solid choice for a meal out. With a few tweaks in service and climate control, it could easily improve.

Read moreHave eaten here plenty of time and give them a five star review. This time after walking in, I was seated at a table and ignored. Walk ins after me were served before me and when I asked if I could please give my order, I was dismissed, “yeah yeah” and talk to wait. A Waitress approached me and asked if I was ok. I told her that I was unhappy that I had been left sitting on the table for 15 to 20 minutes while walk-ins were served after me. She started shrugging her shoulders, waving her hands dismissing me, trying to blame me if I had let him know I was here (and dismissing me when I told her that I had been seated by her staff), lying that the walkins werebefore me,asking if I was alright, and starting to just gesticulate towards the door. She asked me what she could do for me in a offhand way and I said she can be polite and courteous. The walk-in said “it’s because their English is poor”. I’ve eaten here many times. It doesn’t require you to have 100% perfect. English to be polite and pleasant and their English is...
Read moreWe recently celebrated a special family occasion at Nakorn Thai in Malvern, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming service made us feel right at home. The staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about making our experience memorable.
The food was outstanding – beautifully presented and full of authentic Thai flavours. I had the Pad Thai Prawn, which was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, spice, and texture. We also tried the Ginger Stir Fry Fish, sizzling hot plate and it was incredibly fresh, with a fragrant ginger sauce that complemented the fish wonderfully.
The atmosphere was cozy yet elegant, ideal for both casual dinners and special celebrations. Nakorn Thai is now easily one of my favourite Thai restaurants in Melbourne – consistent in both quality and hospitality.
Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys genuine Thai cuisine and...
