I had a craving for iskender and Nicosia was the closest place I could find that offered the dish. I found it lacking in sauce and had there been more sauce the dryness of the meat would have been less apparent. If I ordered it again I would definitely ask for double sauce Update Takeaway from Nicosia today and one seriously large meat tub that literally could have fed an army. The dips weren’t my favourite but the traditional Turkish pides were a hit and I was a big fan of the chicken doner (lamb was a bit on the dry side). Original review Nice atmosphere but quite chilly inside. I was loving the decor with traditional little touches and beautiful framed photos of the namesake town. It made me want to jump right on a plane straight into European summer. This desire was probably exacerbated by the unpleasant temperature in the restaurant. For some reason I'm finding that a lot this winter. Has the cost of gas gone up or something? Didn't seem to be bothering the other patrons as we were a full house albeit in a relatively small setting. Continuing to embrace the friends with salad lifestyle I chose a grilled prawn salad and requested no onion. The salad was generous but unfortunately so was the infestation of onions. The prawns had a sensational char on them though and really delicious flavour. I was pretty delighted with my main although the dips were a little lacklustre and could have done with a bit more seasoning (carrot) and perhaps some garlic (babaganush). We also had the iskender (meat covered in yoghurt and crushed tomato), lamb kebab, lamb kofte and a dinner plate (chicken and lamb with salad and dip) on the table. All presented quite well although opinions were mixed. I certainly enjoyed what I ate, it was very sizeable for a salad and my interest was piqued by an apple baklava. One to keep in mind on a non dieting return trip

Nicosia Turkish Restaurant wasn’t the best Turkish dining experience I’ve had in Melbourne. We ordered the Full Kebab, and I chose the option with rice and vegetables. Unfortunately, both the rice and vegetables tasted off. The vegetables, in particular, didn’t look fresh — their dull color and texture made them seem microwaved rather than freshly boiled. The chicken pieces were also dry and lacked flavor. On a brighter note, the Ispanakli Gourmet Pide was a standout — fluffy and crisp, with fresh spinach and creamy feta cheese that made it light yet satisfying. The Ayran drink was refreshing and well-balanced. However, I was let down by a mix-up with another drink order. I had asked for Turkish Salep but was served a bowl of Turkish Salata with bread instead. This left me a bit confused. Overall, while there were some highlights, the experience fell short of my expectations. The small dining tables and their close proximity to others made it hard to eat comfortably and fully enjoy the meal.

Current rating 1/5: It's so disappointing when a restaurant fails to impress you with inconsistency in quality and taste of the food, not one but twice. Especially the last time we ordered, baring the kebabs everything was so underwhelming. Even the rice was sticky and slimy. Eeks!! 4.5 / 5 to be precise You cannot go wrong ordering anything from here, the delivery was quick. Koftes, Kebabs, Dips and everything that came with the Meal pack for two (mini menu) was delicious. Juicy, tender and beautiful flavors is what you are looking for then Nicosia can't disappointed you. The reason it loses .5 is the packaging. The dips almost mixed into each other and the container were trading up.

I’ve probably been to this restaurant about 5 times in my life and never had a bad experience until now. My boyfriend and I sat down tonight for dinner and ordered a mini menu ($35 per person), and the waitress proceeded to tell me I would be ordering two. I told her we would be purchasing one mini menu for two people. She continued to reassure me that I would be purchasing two, convinced that I didn’t understand how much it would be. She ASSUMED that as we were not dressed to the nines and that we are young (mid 20s) that we would not be able to afford the $70 dinner that we knew we were ordering. She said “you may want to order something else, as it gets quite expensive”. She even asked another waitress to come over to try and clarify to us. After she finally understood that we knew what the price was she left us alone, but proceeded not to serve us for the remainder of the evening. Throughout the evening the staff kept messing up orders, leaving people waiting for two long, and generally were rude and unpleasant towards us. When my boyfriend paid, the 2nd waitress that approached our table handed back the change on the counter, she didn’t even make the effort put it in his hand. Not to mention the fact that we asked to take the remainder of our food home that we didn’t eat and they gave us 3 small pieces of lamb and a handful of chicken when there was much more than that left on our plates. Absolutely disgraceful behavior and I will never be returning to this...

I made a reservation in this restaurant for Saturday night. At the time of making the reservation, I was very clear that I did not want a table in the front, near the window/door – as I know from experience that sitting there in winter can be cold due to the door regularly opening. The restaurant told me that that was no problem.

However, when we got there, they sat my partner and myself in the courtyard, and told us that this was temporary, and that they would give us a table inside the main part of the restaurant. However, they then about 10 minutes later told us that our table would be right at the front, next to the window – or we could stay in the courtyard. As the seat offered to us was not in accordance with what I had booked, we left. This was very disappointing because my partner and myself had looked forward to a night there. The restaurant told us that the large groups with good seating had made bookings ‘many weeks ago’ – a comment I believe was irrelevant and no excuse. I believe that their behaviour in this instance was unprofessional. If the restaurant was unable to give me a suitable table on that Saturday night, then they should have told me this at the time I made the booking. In the alternative, they should have honoured my booking for a seat in the main part of the restaurant not next to the front. This is so unimpressive and so unprofessional and disappointing . What a...
