Eating at Brico the other night was such a fabulous experience. I went with a couple of friends and straight away we were warmly greeted by the staff, they were very quick to sit us down and give us menus. We started off with some drinks and honestly the drinks were a tough decision because there were so many cocktail and wine choices on their menu. As we were not sure how hungry we were, we started off with some small plates to share, we picked the Sydney Rock Oysters with white pepper mignonette, Iris Bakery bread with the most delicious butter, Crudités with taramasalata and the Pork belly rillettes with cornichons, radish and toast. All these starters were absolutely divine and having the side of bread was great as it really filled us up with the taramasalata and the pork belly rillettes. After demolishing these dishes we then ordered the shaved artichoke salad and the vongole steamed with sherry. I loved the salad and honestly could’ve ate a whole plate to myself of the vongole, they were THAT good! I honestly was quite full after everything we ate but obviously I couldn’t miss out on dessert and so we ordered the fried ricotta dumplings with lemon curd. They were gone in two seconds! As we were leaving I was taking some photos of the interiors and the bartender kindly informed us about the artist of the painting hanging above the booth seating. It was so nice to learn about who the artist was and an upcoming exhibition...

the hospitality feels fun and friendly - like an invitation into someone’s home. we felt relaxed, welcomed and in no rush to leave. yet their incredible cooking, knowledgeable staff and elegant decor bring on a sense of sophistication.
their menu is simple but does it all - from your classic wine bar snacks, including @iris sourdough, oysters and chickpea panisse, fresh salads, substantial plates like their entire king george whiting, to sweet treats like their fresh ricotta dumplings and choccy pot.
going for an orange as usual, our tavis tausend ‘handful’ semillon (adelaide hills) was vibrant and had that beautiful fermented punch. their rye sourdough was densely crusted, and bouncy on the inside. heavenly dipped in their anchovy oil or lathered in salted butter. their (giant!) asparagus had the perfect snap and we enjoyed the cervelle de canut, resembling tzatziki with the addition of dill but smoky with goat cheese! dessert was beautifully bitter, with a touch of salt to bring out the sweet choc.
beyond their food and wine, brico is sustainable. their wine list focuses on local producers with low-intervention wine-making and agricultural practices, and their switch from gas to induction cooktops is healthier, and greener. loved learning this!

Finally made it to Brico and it was well worth the wait. We kicked off with the famous Iris Bakery bread with rich cultured butter. Hard to go wrong there.
The squash with garlic cream was a surprise favourite — rich, smooth, and full of flavour. The octopus was perfectly cooked, with a lovely tang from the escabeche and a punchy aioli. Loved the beef skewers too! The pickles gave it just the right edge.
Caillette in broth was comforting and well-seasoned. Steak was nicely done, though the portion was a bit modest.
The fried apple and rhubarb pie with marscapone cream absolutely stole the show — crispy, warm, and not overly sweet.
Such a cosy little spot! Would 100% come back for a relaxed long...
