iAbsolute — Restaurant in Melbourne

This review is for home-delivery only, and I have not tried the actual restaurant.

It's always nice to have home delivered Thai after a long day. I order from Absolute Thai through menulog online, and delivery is usually pretty fast and puntual. Minimum order for delivery is $20 and delivery fee is $2 (lower than many other home delivery).

Over the 3 years I ordered from them, quality of food has gone from consistently excellent to just above fair. My main complaint is that quality and ingredients (!) of the same dish are so variable, that what's ordered pretty much depends on luck of the week. I'm yet to figure out which day of the week the "good chef" is on duty!

If anyone from Absolute Thai is reading, please take this review seriously. I very much enjoy your food on the 1/3 occasions when it is properly cooked. However, intermittent reward is not quite enough to keep me ordering. Please have a "good chef" on duty everyday...

Very poor. Ordered Uber Eats. The price was excessively high for the small amount of food delivered.The serving size was not comparable with other (much better) Thai takeaways that we have tried in the same area. The food was sub-par especially the sad looking som tum which was a small amount of grated green paw paw with a couple of chopped beans, three halves of cherry tomato, and a couple of nuts, with some dressing in the bottom of the container, not even mixed properly and very bland. For a classic and standard Thai dish and they couldn’t even get that right. Worst som tum of my life. The pad see ew and red curry stir fry were overly sweet (misguided attempt to ‘cater to western taste’?). The fish cakes tasted good, but that was the only saving dish. Would not use again, too many better options out there. Next time will check...
