Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at a hot pot restaurant called Re La Gun Tang, and it was an unforgettable experience. What makes this place unique is its rotating conveyor belt system. Fresh ingredients are placed on small plates and circle around the tables, allowing diners to easily pick what they want as the food passes by. It’s both convenient and fun, especially if you enjoy exploring different ingredients.
The most impressive part of Re La Gun Tang is the freshness of its ingredients. Every item looked clean, colorful, and fresh. The beef and lamb slices were thin, tender, and well-marbled. The seafood, including shrimp, squid, and fish balls, was especially fresh with no fishy smell at all. Even the vegetables—like spinach, Chinese cabbage, lotus root, and mushrooms—were crisp and tasted like they had just been delivered.
There are several soup bases to choose from, including spicy Sichuan, tomato, mushroom, and clear broth. I chose the tomato soup, which was rich, slightly sweet, and paired perfectly with both meat and vegetables. As the ingredients cooked, the flavors blended beautifully, making the whole experience warm and satisfying. There’s also a self-serve sauce bar where you can mix your own dipping sauce to suit your taste.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was clean, modern, and lively, and the staff were friendly and efficient. For about 40 AUD per person, the experience was well worth it. Given the quality and freshness of the ingredients, I’d say it’s great value for money.
Overall, Re La Gun Tang is a must-try for hot pot lovers. Whether you’re going with friends or dining solo, you’ll enjoy the fresh food, fun dining style, and warm, spicy flavors that truly live up to the name “Re...
Read moreWe waited half hour for a seat (doesn’t affect rating as they were busy). However when we were sat down, we were not told anything on how things worked (do we order soup at the counter, do they take our order at the table like other places, do we pay in advance etc?). After realizing no one is coming we went up to the counter to order the soup base and pay. Then there was another long wait for the soup base to come out. The food on the rotary belt was good. Had no seafood but mussels on the Saturday night that we attended (was expecting more based on photos and given it was a dinner not lunch). The hot food was never refilled, it only had a few pieces of I assume fried sticky rice and once that was gone, it was empty the whole time we were there. No refills of skewers or any other foods, just empty trays. No big range of desserts, only a few orange slices and watermelon. The floor near the sauces was wet and no one cleaned it up. I kept getting my seat banged by the trolley when staff were trying to clean up. If the trolley doesn’t fit between the chair and wall, staff should just leave the trolley and walk to the table for it to be cleaned rather than keep whacking a customers chair. Pricing was fine, but I personally wouldn’t be...
Read moreLoved my experience here!
The lady who served us was the loveliest person. She explained our options clearly and in a kind manner to us which we really appreciated as we were quite new to the hot pot train buffet experience.
The hot pot train experience was fun. It was a really convenient ayce hotpot experience not having to get up from our table to get the ingredients - everything came to you. Ingredients were regularly restocked and everything worked out well for me. The broth was just ok but it didn’t take away much from the experience.
Unfortunately my mum had an upset stomach after eating here but my partner and I didn’t so maybe if you have a weaker stomach, be careful picking risky ingredients or be cautious when cooking the foods.
They had a wide range of ingredients to choose from and they have all your hotpot essentials.
An unexpected highlight were the desserts and ready-to-eat foods! They were all so delicious even though some of them weren’t fresh.
Overall really good experience. Would definitely come back here and honestly a restaurant I’ll be adding to my regular rotation.
The value is really good for something like hotpot. Think we paid something like $33 per person...
