Visited here on a Friday evening for a birthday dinner due to the positive reviews. But unfortunately, it wasnโt for us โน๏ธ
Pros โ : reasonable prices, good portion of food for what you pay for, good service Cons โ: bland food, mediocre at best
I did see that there was a Google review promotion where you could get a free drink for writing a review, which could explain the high number of positive reviews (this review was not written for this promotion). I also found it strange for the menu to include a lot of Japanese dishes.
We ordered the: Crumbled Oyster ๐ฆช - which was nothing special Cream Jjambbong ๐ (pictured below) - which I felt was not spicy at all, and I have a low spice tolerance! It was also pretty bland. Out of the other dishes we ordered here, I liked this one the best though. Cold noodle and Kong Guksu ๐ - both which had flavourless watery broths. They were served with ice, making it very cold, good for a hot day. Kimchi Fried Rice ๐ - also not spicy Japchae Rice ๐ - also pretty bland
I really wanted to agree with the previous reviews, not sure if we just ordered the wrong dishes, but I wouldnโt recommend this place to others if you wanted to eat nice tasting Korean food. However if you donโt care about the taste and only care about the price and portions, this place...
ย ย ย Read moreAnother korean chinese fusion restaurant! Im so happy to see its getting popular around Melbourne. So this place will be my go to if wokkers at boxhill is full house. Let's get to it.
The food/menu: I love how unique and distinctly different to other Korean chinese fusion restaurants. You have your jajangmyeon (์ง์ฅ๋ฉด), jampong (์งฌ๋ฝ)and tangsuyu (ํ์์ก) but they have udong as well which is a great addition. Amazing food and delicious ๐. Soju is "cheap" for 14.
The service: very nice and addressed our needs very well. Waitress managed to move us to another table since the customer behind us was loud as hell and kept on moving our seats like a barn animal. You know when a barn animal makes noise and starts to move around. That was the exact sound ๐. That kind of spoilt our family night dinner. But the waitress was great.
Atmosphere: Nice place and decorations. I reckon they need to dust those wines bottles on display. Looks dusty as hell but that me nitpicking.
Its a must go place if you haven't tried Korean chinese fusion food its a must go. Ill see...

Now, let's talk about the foodโit was absolutely delicious! We tried a variety of dishes, including the Jajang Myeon Seafood, Tangsuyuk (Pork), Steamed Rice, and the Jjambbong Soup. Each dish was bursting with authentic Korean flavors and prepared with great attention to detail. The Jajang Myeon Seafood was rich and savory, while the Tangsuyuk was perfectly crispy and flavorful. The portion sizes were generous, and every bite was a delight. To top it off, the refreshing Sprite complemented our meal perfectly.Overall, DAOL Korean Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. I can't wait to visit again and explore more of their menu.
