Insect Found in Food & Dismissive Staff Response I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at this place, I found an insect in my soup noodles, and when I brought it to the staff’s attention, I was shocked by their dismissive response. When I discover an insect in my dish, I immediately notified the staff and management, I was expecting a professional response and corrective action. Unfortunately, their reaction was highly dismissive. I was told, "It’s just a small insect/fly — we can’t always control it," and was reminded that “this is not a five-star fine dining restaurant,” as if that justified the lack of hygiene. Even worse, instead of apologizing or taking responsibility, they told me not to come back and said they would refuse to serve me in the future. This kind of attitude towards food hygiene and customer safety is unacceptable. It shows a total lack of responsibility for food safety and zero respect for customers. It makes me wonder how often this happens and how many other customers have had similar experiences but stayed silent. I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant if you care about cleanliness and respectful service. Don’t worry — we won’t be coming back. Ever.

I just had to write a review about Dong Ba 2 in St Albans. I was craving some bún bò after a big day exploring Melbourne, and this place did not disappoint! It's not fancy by any means, but that's part of the charm. It's a small, family-run spot with friendly service and a focus on good, honest Vietnamese food. I went for the rare beef bún bò, and it was fantastic. The broth was rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The portion size was huge, too, which is always a plus in my book. They didn't have the usual sriracha on the table, which was a bit of a bummer, but they did have some chilies in vinegar that added a nice kick. Overall, Dong Ba 2 is a hidden gem in St Albans. It's not going to win any awards for ambience, but if you're looking for delicious and affordable Vietnamese food, this is the place to go. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Very disappointed with the meals today. Ordered tofu claypot with salted fish but only 2 pieces of small tofu and it was so oily. Read a previous review and it said same thing about this clay pot dish. Also asked if they can make a small portion of prawn salad for 1 person, got a cold ‘no’ :(. The stirred fried rice noodle with chicken was so oily and also had a few small pieces of chicken. We ordered the same dishes at the other places like Phi Phi and they gave huge portion of meat or tofu. Would not recommend this restaurant. Try other restaurants in the area like Phi Phi or Quang Vinh for more quality and quantity of Vietnamese food. Sadly we won’t come back again :(

Terrible service!!! First time and last time!!! Been many restaurants but nowhere like this.. staff is rude and doesn't know what customer service is! I ordered Banh Xeo ( dry food with fish sauce to eat with ricepaper and vegetables)and Pho and we asked for 2 small bows to share the fish sauce and 2 plates to eat Banh Xeo so that we can share soup and sauce. They said 1 customer only 1 bowl only then she left and came back with 2 bowls without plates or mention any charges. When i came and paid i was in shocked to see the hand made receipt unprofessionally. I asked why customer have to pay for extra bowls which is so ridiculous. They said No staffs to wash dishes and they charged 50 cent per bowl and the one we haven't used they also charged for it as long as they bring and put on your table. You use or not we still charge with very fake smile and don't want to get the feedback or listen to customer .. Very ridiculous and disgusted!

They need to learn how to talk and treat customer. I come to restaurant to enjoy the food and service but I am so disappointed! Who care your restaurant has someone to wash the dishes or not? If none to wash, they can shut down their restaurant. Staff’s attitude is horrible, talking with sarcastic tone.. not appreciate and value the...
