Dorbo — Restaurant in Melbourne

The food is really nice. I would give it 5 stars for food, however since this is a general review on my experience I have decided to only an average rating would be adequate.

I have not eaten in the restaurant, only had the home delivery a total of 4 times to date. The first 2 were without flaw and the food was excellent and the service was excellent. The third and fourth times were a little less professional.

On the third order they forgot part of our order. When my partner phoned to have the item delivered she was told to check the bag. The tone the operator used was callous and accusing. My partner said it was not in the bag and the operator asked if she was sure, once again accusing my partner of lying. The order was eventually rectified and we were able to enjoy our night. Once again the food was really good.

The forth and very possibly the last occasion my partner paid over the phone with a card. When the food was delivered the delivery person asked for the bill to be settled. My partner inquired as to why it had not been settled already when she paid over the phone. The delivery person phoned the store and began a conversation in their native language. My partner had to stand by idol with no insight as to what was going on. Eventually after a lengthy conversation in a foreign language and incredibly frustrated behavior by the delivery person my partner was handed the phone to speak to someone in the store to clear up the issue. This took what seemed like an eternity for someone to go through the nights transactions and confirm that the payment had been taken. We had to stand by and watch the whole thing unfold in another language without a clue as to what was going on whilst our food was going cold. Well where do I begin. After initially giving me someone else's order then calling me to let me know once I'm halfway home it just got worse. It used to be a decent restaurant with decent food but now its absolutely disgusting. The chicken satay skewers were covered with more batter than chicken. The special fried rice was white clag with a couple of peas thrown in and smelled funny. The friend wontons were like eating rubber no crunch whatsoever and the pork was also covered in way too much batter that was fatty. The honey chicken was the same and the honey was like clag as well. After calling to ask for a refund or even partial refund I was offered nothin but a 10% discount on an $80 order. You live and learn. Decided to give Dorbo a try after the takeaway we normally went to, started going down hill just a tad. Ordered the beef rendang with steamed rice and received something that resembled a watered down rendang. None of the rich redness and sauce that you normally associate with that dish. The food was nice enough but not what we were expecting and, worst still, was padded out with, what amounted to, a whole small onion.
