My husband and I made the decision to host a New Year's dinner at our home, aiming for a seamless and convenient experience by ordering from El Jannah for our guests. However, our experience encountered several challenges that left us disappointed.
On December 26th, I attempted to place an order through El Jannah's online catering tab. Unfortunately, I was unable to meet the minimum order requirement of $300, as my total order amounted to $256. Seeking clarification, I visited the El Jannah Broadmeadows location on Saturday, the 30th, only to be informed that online orders needed to be processed on the day of the event.
On the morning of New Year's, I accessed the website to place my order, but had to wait until 11am for the online ordering process to open. Finally, at 11:17am, my $256 order was confirmed for a 7:20pm pickup.
However, what seemed like a straightforward process quickly turned into a disappointing situation. As our New Year's festivities were in full swing and our guests eagerly awaited dinner, my husband went to collect our order. At 7:14pm, I received an unexpected call from an unknown mobile number, which turned out to be an El Jannah staff member contacting me from her personal phone to inform me that they had to cancel our order due to a lack of chicken.
Naturally, I was taken aback and sought an explanation, as I had placed the order as soon as the online system opened. I questioned the timing of this call, especially with my husband already en route and our guests eagerly anticipating their meal. The staff member's response was that they only receive online orders 10 minutes before they start preparing the food, and since I had placed the order relatively recently, they did not have the chicken available.
In an effort to clarify the situation, I requested that she review the receipt, as I had actually placed the order 8 hours earlier. After a lengthy hold, she returned with the reassurance that they did, in fact, have the chicken and could prepare it for us. This sudden change in information left me wondering about the initial miscommunication and the staff member's inability to effectively convey the situation.
I expressed my concerns about my husband's arrival and the waiting guests, asking for confirmation that everything was in order. The staff member assured me that my husband was indeed present at the restaurant. However, just moments later, my husband called me in a panic, informing me that El Jannah had contacted him to cancel the order, citing a lack of chicken and claiming that we had placed the order late.
This unfortunate turn of events led to an argument between my husband and me, as we delegated tasks to each other to manage our New Year's preparations, with food being a top priority that was on my list, the staff member told my husband I only placed the order “10 minutes ago”. After explaining the situation to my husband and highlighting the previous assurances I had received, the restaurant's tone suddenly changed once again. They informed my husband that they could prepare everything, but it would require a 40-minute wait. With no other option, my husband had to endure an hour-long wait at the restaurant, while our family and guests anxiously awaited his return to spend time together and enjoy the meal.
The incident raises questions about the purpose of having an online ordering and pickup scheduling system if it operates with such poor standards. It is evident that improved training in effective communication and handling delicate matters is necessary for the staff involved.
By the time the food finally arrived at 8:30, our guests had already resorted to eating pizza from a local shop and consuming the entire grazing board that had been prepared for after dinner. Regrettably, all the El Jannah food had to be discarded.
This experience was not only a waste of food and money but also caused unnecessary stress and disappointment. As a result, we have decided that we will not be placing any future orders with El Jannah as they have proved to...

⭐⭐☆☆☆
I have been a loyal customer of Eljennah for the last three years, and I’m absolutely crazy about their food. I’ve tried almost every franchise in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne, and I’ve always been impressed. My go-to location has been the Campbellfield branch, where I’ve been a regular customer every week without fail. Campbellfield consistently delivers great portion sizes, excellent quality, and fantastic customer service, and I would happily give them 5 stars.
Unfortunately, my experience at the Broadmeadows franchise today was extremely disappointing. I visited with my family and ordered a family meal for $63.65, expecting the same quality and value for money I’ve experienced at other locations. However, this is what I encountered: Chicken Size: The chicken portions were shockingly small. The family meal included two pieces of chicken, but the size was so small it felt like it could barely serve one person, let alone a family. Compared to other Eljennah franchises, this was unacceptable. Khubz (Bread) Size: The bread was also very small and insufficient for a family meal. It’s disappointing to see such cuts in quantity for the same price. Value for Money: For the price I paid, the portions were completely unreasonable. As someone who is also in the business world, I can say that it seems like the owner of this franchise is overly focused on cutting costs and maximizing profits. If I wanted such small portions, I could’ve easily gone to KFC or any other place and spent much less. Customer Service: When I brought up my concerns with the manager, he was dismissive and borderline rude. He insisted, “All our chicken sizes are the same,” which is simply not true based on my experience at other Eljennah locations. As a loyal customer of three years, I felt disrespected and disappointed.
My Observation: It’s clear that the owner of the Broadmeadows franchise is cutting corners to save costs, but this approach will ultimately hurt the business. When customers are paying premium prices, they expect premium quality and quantity. If families come here for dinner and leave feeling dissatisfied, it’s only a matter of time before they stop coming back.
Recommendation: I do not recommend visiting the Broadmeadows franchise unless they seriously improve their portion sizes, quality, and customer service. Compared to other locations like Campbellfield, this franchise is not up to the mark.
I hope this feedback reaches the owner and prompts them to match the standards of other Eljennah franchises. Until then, I’ll continue to dine at Campbellfield, where the food and service have never...

El Jannah stands as a prominent Lebanese-Australian charcoal chicken chain, boasting numerous locations across NSW, VIC, and ACT. Originating in Granville NSW in 1998, it has since evolved into a thriving franchise, the name itself translating to ‘paradise’ or ‘heaven’. 🍗
The Broadmeadows location revealed a spacious venue with plenty of seating. The menu featured a variety of options, including charcoal and fried chicken, rolls, burgers, and sides like chips, Lebanese bread, pickles, and salads such as tabouli and fattoush. 🥗
The garlic sauce, a signature item, tends to be a hit or miss - personally I found it a bit overwhelming. The Sweet Chilli sauce, while tasty, leaned more towards sweetness than spiciness. 🤔
We decided to try both the crispy and charcoal box packs to experience a range of offerings. The crispy burger stood out as our favourite and reminiscent of KFC, while the charcoal burger felt more like boiled chicken than grilled. The chips were decent but the real stars were the charcoal chicken pieces - incredibly moist with perfectly seasoned skin, and the super crispy fried chicken. 🤤
Personally I found El Jannah to be little bit overhyped, but the quality of the chicken is undoubtedly good and it’s halal certified! Would return to try some more from the...
