Apologies to the team that this review is a little delayed but almost 2weeks on and I’m still thinking of the great day I had. To celebrate my 50th, on the 7th April, I booked the event room upstairs in Doncaster for 50 guests to enjoy Feekahs High Tea. I wanted something a little quirky and different, and the team did not disappoint. It was absolutely glorious. The staff were amazing and incredibly accommodating and of course the venue was visually divine. I also ordered the ombré butterfly cake which was perfect for the event. I was stressing over having to organise a large gathering but the team had everything under control and it was such an easy way to book a very memorable and special experience! I was completely stress free!!
Everything ran like clockwork and I came away with so many compliments from my guests over how great everything was and what amazing service we all had. I had countless comments on how perfect it was. I am so grateful to the owner/manager who personally made sure everything was ok and to the amazing staff for being so kind, attentive and very organised and efficient.
So now I’m reading the other reviews and I’m astounded by some of the 1 stars. The team at Feekah are so accomodating and polite, I cannot imagine how people would think otherwise. So maybe a heads up…. If you want the unique experience with the instagrammable pics and quirky menu - guess what? It all comes at a price to pull this together. If you can’t afford it, stay home and try making your own rainbow lattes where you can let your kids run amok and put their feet on your own furniture. There are plenty of us who can afford it and appreciate it. For those complaining some of the items are expensive, welcome to today’s economy, however I was on a strict budget and did a thorough search of birthday venues. Feekah was very reasonable for the amazing experience I had, and the pricing was on par - if not cheaper - with other High Teas or where the food and venues were nice but not really anything special. Also, all the prices are clearly advertised so don’t order a $16 milkshake and then complain about it. If it’s not cold enough, ask the girls to fix it then and there.
I also came here for brunch beforehand to try the food and the ala carte menu was delicious! Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour, very much on par with other instagram brunch venues where, as a self proclaimed foodie, I frequent often… so again those complaining in the comments that the food was tasteless just have to be trolls.
Everyone has their opinion, yes, but I really can’t believe some of the ridiculous stuff I’m reading. If you’re not happy with something at the time, address it then and there with the staff. Don’t come here and keyboard-warrior away with your Karen complaints. Especially when the team have already addressed your issue or where prices are clearly advertised. I have no doubt that if your feedback is reasonable and genuine, the Feekah team will bend over backwards to ensure they improve your experience immediately. Reserve your 1 star review for when you have provided feedback and your REASONABLE issue was not adequately resolved. And stop complaining about the prices. They are actually not expensive for what you get, so maybe it’s best you eat at home if you can’t afford it.
To the amazing team at Feekah, keep it up! We love you and love what you do, so we will be back for brunch with the girls very soon to make sure you live long and...
Read moreWish I had read the reviews before attending Feekah, Doncaster. Firstly, the online menu doesn't include the prices for anything. There is no valid reason for this, upload a menu with prices like every other respectable restaurant. Secondly, most of the items on the menu, particularly the drinks and deserts, are very overpriced for what they are. What is referred to as a "gold rainbow latte" is simply a standard latte with a coloured shape in the foam and some gold sprinkles, and this costs $13.50. This is triple the price of a standard latte, I expected something much more exciting considering the cost. My local coffee shop makes a picture in my foam too and doesn't charge half as much. Another thing, if you deviate in the slightest from the menu, it'll cost you extra. For example, if your menu item says "poached eggs" and you want them scrambled instead, it'll cost you an extra $2. Whilst this is specified on the menu, every other restaurant will let you have your eggs "any way" and won't charge you extra for it. Also, the list of "sides" are not available unless ordered with a full meal. Again, although specified on the menu, sides should be able to be ordered regardless - the customer is paying for it so what harm does it cause you to make it? My niece wanted some more chips after she finished her burger with chips, and we were told it wasn't possible - quite disappointing. Then, the deserts. We ordered what's called "Sundae in the clouds" thinking it would be this fancy dish, it was three small scoops of ice cream that tasted just like what you get at Coles. There was a cone on top of one of them, a small spray of cream and some fairy floss. No topping either and no mention of topping on the menu - and this was $22! Be sure to read the terms and conditions too. We were only a group of 5, but groups of 8 or more have a minimum spend and it's $35! On top of that, if one person doesn't attend because maybe they get sick or whatever, you'll still be charged the $35 for absolutely nothing. There is no valid reason why a minimum spend is required for this type of restaurant/food. Big waste of money and I won't even get into all the surcharges that apply. Finally, whoever it is responding from the restaurant, please don't bother responding to this, save yourself some time and take the advice of other people who have left similar reviews and instead of being defensive, maybe think through what you're offering and do it a little better. Certainly, won't be going back!
P.s. your reply is not factual. My party size did not increase from 5 to 8. My sister made her own individual booking for her daughter and two of her friends (for a birthday) - this was a separate booking. I then made my own booking for myself, both my sisters and my mother to sit at our own table, with our own orders - another separate booking. We were not one party, my sister simply paid for her daughter and her friends because they're only 12 years old and certainly would not be able to afford anything you are offering. It doesn't matter than you emailed me a copy of the menu, it should be on your website with prices included, customers should not have...
Read moreNote to self: Perhaps I should have read the reviews before booking. If you have nut allergies, stay away and don’t trust the staff as they haven’t a clue! And take out a second mortgage before you go.
I hoped to take my daughter out for a lunch surprise at Feekah Doncaster. Made a booking, arrived on time and expected to be seated at a reserved table for two. Instead we were directed outside to a cold and windy area which we refused and asked to be seated inside. We stood around for a few minutes and the waitress directed us to a very crowded waiting area near the front entrance. Dirty table and very squishy, lady with pram and kids also waiting to be seated properly. My daughter kept saying, “Mum let’s go. This is not pleasant at all”. I convinced her we should give this a try by having a coffee and cake, if not lunch. We were moved soon after to a table for two near the kitchen and given a menu.
Please note the desserts in the front cabinet are not on the menu bc we were told “they change daily”. We ordered two rainbow lattes which came looking more like cappuccinos- in a mug. Lattes are served in glasses. Mine was ok, but my daughters like warm milk. We told the waitress and she said we would have to pay for another shot of coffee! So I showed her the difference in color between the two and she took the coffee away and replaced it with another.
Be warned if you have a nut allergy: my daughter went up to the counter to order a cake from the cabinet. No prices. No listed allergens so she asked the workers to be sure. The staff havent a clue - some have nuts, some don’t, but they really can’t be sure! One staff member said ‘the little present cake’ (pictured) definitely had no nuts so my daughter ordered it and was asked if she would like it with fairy floss to which she agreed. I ordered the piggy cake after being told it had no nuts. It was delivered to our table, then removed after another staff member said it had almonds in it! The managers like to blame trainees for these errors but reality is they could cost someone their life if they have a reaction. Time to pay. The present cake (all of 4 bites) is $30.80! Yes, $28 ($20 for the cake, $8 for the fairy gloss and weekend surcharge 10%). So expect to pay $44 for two lattes and a cake!
Worst part is the management blame the customer for not asking and then when you do they blame the trainees for not knowing. The same way they can’t accept feedback from customer reviews and keep referring to their camera footage like it’s CSI! I can’t imagine Feekah will survive long in Doncaster. After one visit you just don’t ever want to return. Stop making excuses for your poor service, over-priced and poor...
