The Flake Shack has been on Police Rd for approximately 20 years or so. I popped in the other day because I was craving some fried fish and the store I usually go to (Wanda Catch — which is also good) wasn’t open. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had no less than 10 different types of fish on offer! I grabbed myself a fried Flake and fried Hake and both were great, although slightly too salty so next time I’ll probably ask for no salt. The home made tartare was decent too. Overall a pretty standard fish and chips and not bad by any stretch. I would say prices are reasonable, a bit more expensive than Wanda Catch I think.

I can't believe I've lived in the suburb for so long and am only now trying this place, thanks to a friend's recommendation! Everything was spot on. The thick cut chips, flakes, and home made potato cakes were perfectly crispy and flaky. This is my new local favourite, and I'll definitely be back!

Absolutely delicious Flake, potato cakes and crispy golden chips. Onion rings where thick and you could taste the onion, they were a little oilly but still yummy. The best Fish I have had in a long time thin crispy batter not oilly.

For the third time in 3 weeks ordered barramundi on our Friday night ritual . On the second time ordering barramundi and getting a different fish I thought I’d give them a call and ask before ordering again . They were a dinner adamant that the fish was a barramundi. After ordering fir a third time it definitely was not . Stop charging premium for fish you don’t know you are serving . Gave you 3 tries and still got it wrong . Worst part is the dishonesty. Be honest and I could’ve ordered something different. Il never be returning to your shop again as well as many family and friends in the area. Simple honesty would’ve gone...

Drove a 40 min round trip specifically to try Flake Shack. Bought a $24 Duo pack (2 flake, 2 potato cakes, 2 dimmies, + chips), added onion rings, and 2 extra dimmies and potato cakes.

Did not disappoint. Flake was fresh (meat falls apart easily, not dry or greyish meat), potato cakes with decent potato. Chips were good, similar to other fish n chipperies. The standouts were the flavoursome dimmies (although all look similar, not all dimmies are created equal) and the onion rings - dipped in some sort of buttermilk batter. Owner threw in an extra 2 potato...
