Gateway Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Melbourne

I used to be a regular at this place when it was flakey jakes and I thought that was the best fish and chip shop I'd ever eaten at, I was in town today for the first time in a long while and was quite dismayed to see it was no longer a flakey jakes, but I decided to try this gateway fish and chips anyway...... Well let me just say that is where the dismayed feeling ended, they have bettered everything from the dim sims to the milkshakes. Everything was cooked to perfection from the most polite person I've ever been served by I didn't catch his name but he really knew his stuff when it came to the food he was serving, all was served with a warm friendly smile. Big Thumbs Up 👍🏽. Highly recommended and will surely be coming back for more on...

I've been coming here for over 10 years, tonight's meal was the worst I've had in a long while, half the chips were oil soaked, the dim sims were over cooked (I don't mind them Brown but that's rediculous) and the calamari rings were over cooked also and almost chipped my tooth, sorry guys not coming back, if I could upload photos i would.

the food isnt bad. the flake lately has been a lower standard to what it normally is. It would be nice to get some polite service. everyone in the shop doesnt smile and work like robots. Im sure they are nice people. A genuine how how are you insted of what can i get you can go a long way for having more customers returning. A bit of training will go a long way. It is up to management. I wish you all luck to have a better...
